I was disappointed by his performance yesterday, Spurs bossed us in midfield. I also feel that Faurlin didn't do enough to close down space in the run up to Spurs 3rd goal. I like Faurlin and he was a key player last season but I am unsure as to whether he will truly cut it in the Premiership.

Yes. Modric and Parker were both different class but Faurlin is and will continue to be a decent player at this level.

Kerry first SWP now Ali, have you thought that he was up against one of the best midfields in the Prem there!

Ciarrai, its a reasonable question. You would think that playing Barton, Faurlin and Derry in a midfield trio would give us plenty of bodies in and around the middle of the park. I think its fair to say that none of the 3 above are world class players while we were playing against Modric (a 30-40 million pound player) and Parker (the in form midfielder in the country for past year) yesterday. Spuds play with great width and with their full backs bombing on and with Lennon and Bale also adding width we were simply over run in the first half. Once we put Bootsy and Mackie on it ment that we were pressing spuds much higher up the field and this forces them into the early pass and thus regularly give the ball away. Adel and HH by himself just do not press enough resulting in the opposition having plenty of the ball and building at their pace. I think Faurlin has potential. He is still young and unproven at this level. He is nowhere near Parkers standard but needs time and a long run of games before we can see if he is good enough at this level. IMO he is, he just needs time to further develop.

No he is far too slow. Always slowing our play down, we need more pace in the team

Absolutely right, he was once again much too slow. Never managed to hold the ball.

I must have seen a different game. I thought he was very good and we'll be lucky to keep him soon. Forget Taarabt.

I think hes a good player, but i dont think he has the speed of thought and pace to go much further. He has got to be the slowest player ever and although he has a bit of skill,i think its not enough at this level. Not sure there are goals in him either. Hes one of the better players we have at the mo,but his pace and speed of passing is not great,so I think we need to sign a top qulaity midfielder in Jan. Someone like Diarra?

Thought he was dodgy first half, along with everyone else, much improved in the second. He is not one of the players I worry about in terms of making the step up, just wish he would get forward a bit more often, as he has goals in him.

We could probably do with a bit more pace but what team couldn't? Given it's his first season at this level I think he's been very good in general. He was superb at Wolves and outclassed Jamie O'Hara who's an experienced and respected player in this league. You're never going to get that level of performance every week but what he does offer consistently is an excellent retention of the ball, a good left foot which adds some balance to the side and the ability to put a foot in when needed.

He was man of the match against Chelsea, and yesterday was probably our best passer on the pitch again. His passing is the most accurate in our team,so i'm sorry but this is ridiculous,he's second in the most passes completed in the Prem this season behind Silva, that ain't ****ing bad is it?He is probably at the moment our best player.I think this answers your question!!

Opinion is divided on Faurlin. Fair question IMO.

The fact is that he is an average player at best in this league.

Some performances do suggest this but others suggest he is far better than that. The consistency will most likely come with experience.

I agree with you Hammersmith. I also saw some statiscs showing him as being 2nd in a table of most succesfully completed tackles in the PL so far this season (though it wasn't in the last week!). For me he's been clearly our best midfield player this season, and if he ain't good enough for the PL then we will be needing to bring in a lot of players January. He may not be the quickest around but his passing and ball winning are very good.
