By becoming McBardo and playing for Scotland? Imo over the past year he's been one of the most consistent performers in the country at full back, solid at lb or rb, you have to think he'd be on the cappello's radar at this point. Englands first choice at rb is glen Johnson who I think is an absolute liability and there aren't many quality right backs out there, there is Nedum of course, but with Phils versatility to play both sides, could it have been Bardo for England?
I was thinking that the other day, if Danny Simpson has been rumoured to be nearing a call up... Surely the Salford Scot could have got a look in!
Good point, although he'll get a lot more games for Scotland than he would England one would think - and probs win the same honours lol
If he does get wind of "being on Cappelo's radar" then he wont be happy, as it was Bruce (and Quinn?) who convinced him to play for Scotland...
The point lads is this though. Bardsley has been outstanding at LEFT BACK not RIGHT BACK where he was never more than average. He has been superb in what is still regarded as not being his "natural position." It may be partly due to the current fashion of playing left footed wingers on the right and vice versa. You see a lot of this now, just like Allan Johnston did for us. The other night in the WBA v Wigan game they were both doing it. N'Zogbia for Wigan does this (left footed on the right) and WBA had Vela doing it (not very effectively mind you; same with left footer on the right). Jerome Thomas will also switch wings to better effect than Vela who was playing his first game for the Baggies. This may have something to do with the way that Bardsley has done at LB and not wanting to take anything away from him if you are facing a left footed player coming down the right then when he cuts in it's a lot easier to defend against than if you are a left footed left back.
It's like being a chef though isn't it, I guess. You try food all day so when you get home you're not hungry. I'll soon have myself all boobed out.
You may well have a point, b-i-g, but his close season training regime may have played a part in his improvement, too. How's your snow, by the way?
