Seems a bit of a **** up. England U19s to replay end of qualifier after refereeing error England will restart a key Under-19 women's match in the 96th minute with a retaken penalty after a refereeing error. Mo Marley's side, trailing 2-1, will replay the final minutes of the European U19 Championship qualifier against Norway in Belfast on Thursday. German referee Marija Kurtes disallowed Leah Williamson's spot-kick for encroachment during Saturday's match. But she wrongly gave Norway a free-kick instead of ordering a penalty retake. The restart will take place at the Seaview Stadium in Belfast at 21:45 BST with a different referee, as Kurtes has been sent home following her error. UEFA's ruling states that the match will be "extended according to the discretion of the referee". Approximately three minutes remain to be played. The penalty retake could prove crucial as both sides vie for automatic qualification. If England and Norway win their remaining games - both taking place beforehand at 16:00 BST on Thursday - an equaliser from the spot could put England through as group winners on goal difference http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32231318
just read the write up on BBC, think the german ref wants a good sha**ing. wonder if her chuff is trimmed or shaven? Probably being a german it will be a full on hairy minge.
The same thing happened 10 years ago, seen it before on skysports. Can't remember who that was though.
Didn't Scotland have a restart? Not penalty related but something happened where they had to restart the match from last point but on a different day, but they had no opponents on the restart or something like that.
September, 2005. Uzbekistan V Bahrain, World Cup qualifier match. Game had to be replayed again and didn't start from the point in the game the referee messed up over the penalty.
I was thinking of this http://www.theawayend.net/articles/football/features/1462-scotland-v-estonia-the-game-that-never-was
Restart the 8-0 at 2-0, we have a pen. At very least our pride and goal difference would be far better! Seriously though, imagine if you're the girl who'll take the pen. Properly going over it in your head for weeks!! Just don't screw up now....
Brave move by UEFA but wrong decision for me - opens the door wide to future complaints where the ref is proven to have made a horlicks of a decision. Would we have had to replay Liverpool who should have been given an indirect free kick for beach ball-gate, tranmere with 12 men or as DD says Soton and that disgraceful decision from Marriner? Once the decision is made, get on with it. The alternative is technology for key decisions and appeals much like rugby and tennis. Oh, and well done to Williamson for tucking it away and England winning their group.
