...............that the Daily Record has stopped allowing comment on most, if not all, stories relating to The Rangers FC?

    Equally, when you get stories, like the Sky deal, that go some way to disprove that we were heading for the financial abyss, they also are not open for comment.

    I wonder why that is.

    No I haven't noticed that, it might be due to the fact I do not go on their website.

    When I was up north, my sister pointed it out. Apparently if you go on the 'wee teams boards or articles', you'll see lots of discussions there.

    I see they've revamped their website. Sure sign that it's on it's last legs.

    Also, I see Joan Burnie is still 'writing' for them. That should have been put down years ago!

    ****in' right.

    She looks like wan a thaim <grr>

    And here is the DR's extensive coverage into the announcement of an independent tribunal to look at RFC & EBTs;

    "RANGERS face a probe from an independent commission into EBTs – and it will have the power to impose sanctions if the club is found guilty.

    The SPL has appointed the group to decide if the tax scheme broke league rules and one possible punishment is stripping Gers of titles they won between 2000-2011.

    An SPL statement said the commission has powers to “determine what sanctions, if any, are appropriate.”

    Trying not to highlight the highly ineffective bleating of Sally McMoist, I presume. It didn't mention if he was asking, on behalf of the Scottish people, just who these people were.

    I wrote to the DR about no comments on Rangers pages. In the interests of fairness, here is the reply;

    "Thank you for your email. The reason there is no comments facility currently on Rangers stories is that there was a surge in abusive commenting on articles specifically about that club.

    The level of hate speech, personal abuse, potential defamation and sectarian terminology was absolutely unacceptable.

    We are a family newspaper and our website should reflect those values. Our company's policy, in line with most newspaper publishers, is not to pre-moderate comments but to ask users to follow the house rules and to self-police the comments. We rely on the decency of our readers to follow the terms and conditions clearly laid out.

    Sadly, many hundreds of comments that broke those rules were being left daily on Rangers stories. Deleting abusive comments and banning the people who leave them did not eradicate the problem.

    This is as disappointing to us as it is to our readers. We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to have their say on the issues we cover.

    We will try again in the near future to see if the minority who spoil it for others can behave in a decent fashion.

    I hope this gives you some insight into the decision and thank you again for taking the time to write.

    Regards,

    Ewan Watt"
