http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12016/7507358/Redknapp-focused-on-Spurs Harry Redknapp is adamant he will not leave Tottenham Hotspur 'in the lurch' amid continuing speculation linking him with the England job. Fabio Capello's resignation earlier in the week has seen Redknapp installed as the overwhelming favourite to replace the Italian at the helm. Spurs boss Redknapp admits he would have to consider any offer from the national team after stating he expects to finish the season at White Hart Lane. Reports have suggested that the experienced manager could initially take on the England role on a part-time boss before leading the team at Euro 2012. However, after watching Spurs maintain their Premier League title challenge with a 5-0 home thrashing of Newcastle United, he stressed that he is staying focused on his current job. Redknapp told ESPN: "They've been great to me since I've been here, the fans, I've enjoyed every minute at Tottenham. It's gone well for me here and I think we all appreciate each other. "Things are going well, we've just got to keep focusing on the next game. We've got some great games to come. "If it ever happened and I got the offer you'd have to consider that, but at the moment I'm just focusing purely on Tottenham. "I'm not going to leave them in the lurch. Everyone's been great to me, it's going well here and we've just got to keep going." He added: "I can't honestly say I've had any downside as far as the football goes. "I've been lucky. I've had good players, I love the way we play and the crowd have been great to me. The chairman has been as good as gold. It couldn't be better for me."
what does one read into this? that he is torn?....i think he knows exactly what we have going on at Spurs..and he knows that not many would leave a team on the up and on the verge of becoming challengers for seasons to come...on the other hand he has always seen the England job as an honour....i think he has a unique opportunity here...take us to the end of the season..take charge of the national squad for the euros then come back to us in august....he can get a taster of the poisoned chalice and decide if he fancies it..in which case he wouldnt come back in august...but the hierachy at Spurs would be aware of this and we could get ourselves a top replacement.
Dona- I'm not sure the FA would agree to have a 'wait and see' contract with Harry, as they won't want to install a new manager only for him to bugger off back to club level after England are traditionally knocked out on penalties just as things seem to be going swimmingly. They'll settle for nought less than an 'all or nothing' contract, methinks- in which case our search for a new manager could begin as early as May, perhaps even the next few weeks.
Harry won't leave before the end of the season, of that I am convinced. Neither do I think the FA will try to appoint any manager before the end of the season, because I don't think any manager would agree to it, whoever they were to approach.
Write the poxy Euro's off, we're **** anyway, let Pearce continue, make a right horror show of it to let everyone know he's not the right bloke to go anywhere near the job after the summer. We'll have won the league by then, be CL favourites, Harry will stay, and I'm off to shoot down a pig!
