The BBC post match interview and press conference today worries me. Harry's now saying we had a very poor pre-season so this is new. He's unhappy that so many players, especially Modric have been linked with moves away.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14606056.stm

In the press conference on Sky Sports, he said the words "people wanting to leave" so which "people" is he referring to?

Make of it what you will be he looks like a frustrated figure and I wonder what the next few weeks will bring. We need some stability again and the papers are making life miserable for us right now.

Unless you have £500m+ in the bank, it seems the press like to target you to fill the back pages. Roll on Sept 1st!

Well we can blame The Fail and Abramovich for our unsettling pre season. The Chavs for tapping up Modric and making their bid public and The Fail for trying to sell him every single day.

Harry complaining about the media unsettling his team. Does it not to occur to him that he has fueled this media speculation with his constant comments.

I do wonder, I really do.

Yep, have to agree. He's always happy to wind his window down for a quick chat with Sky Sports on his way out of Spurs Lodge when the goings good. Now he doesn't want all the attention. Fickle.

It's never Harry's fault is it?

I'm sick of the rubbish he spouts to the press expecting us to believe every word. If I was Levy I'd be very unhappy with the way Harry seems to be doing all he can to get Modric sold. And it's not as if Harry can expect Modric to show loyalty when he puts his name forward for the England job at every opportunity. It sends out all the wrong messages.

Given where we are with Modric I'd probably take £40m if it is offered and can be spent wisely before the window closes. I'm just not sure I would have any faith in Redknapp to spend it prudently given the success of the bulk of his other buys while in charge at the Lane.

The blame lies with Harry and Levy not strengthening the side adequately last summer or in January when we were still on the champions league and well placed in the premiership. Back then we had something to offer. If i and many other fans could see this, how come our management couldn't? And don't say because of the olympic stadium as i expect someone in their position to be able to multi-task or delegate.

Sack him and bring in Ancelotti or even Benitez.

He thinks money is the answer but he has signed most of the squad so why are they not good enough now?

That's the problem. Even if we were offered, and took, £40mm. We haven't got any time left to find replacements. Levy would probably spend 3 months haggling, anyway.

I would agree with that. Obviously, no way can we compete with the Citehs, and the Chavs. However, we have done virtually nothing despite some glaring weaknesses. I mean, how long has it been blindingly obvious that our strikers are not fit for purpose?? It cost us a CL place last season, and it's costing us very dear, again, so far this season. The result is that we are now 9 points, and a massive goal difference, away from the top.

Not enough is made of Harrys record in the transfer Market. He has wasted a good few quid (keane, crouch, arguably wilson), let a few players go (bent, o'hara) that we should have kept and has been slow out of the blocks to sign emerging talent in Europe that has ended up going to our competitors (Suarez, dzeko). It is no good moaning about not being able to compete with the big spenders, that's life. They are going out and buying the most obvious players for crazy money. We have to identify the talent earlier before their clubs want £30m and the player wants £100k a week but I'm not seeing Harry doing that. He seems much happier moaning about it rather than rolling up his sleeves and trying to make the best of it.

    NowsufferinginSpain

I've said the same on other posts..... where are our scouts? I knew we were never going to sign the Aguero's of this world but just look at Wigan. Always digging up some player from the footballing backwaters who then goes on to greater things. That is what makes a good manager. And Harry is so far removed from that it is embarrassing (and I am so p1ssed off I can't spell embarrassing)........actually Google Chrome has now corrected it so that s all right.

Couldn't agree more originalsuffering spur. We are looking in all the wrong places. The best emerging talent in Germany, france or holland would still be excited by a move to spurs and a pay rise. The best talent in Spain, already earning more than we could pay them and with a realistic chance of getting a move to one of the truly big sides or those like Chelski or man city who are bank rolled aren't going to want to come. Why can't levy and redknapp see this?

I just think I am a footballing romantic....... Money has ruined the game. I'd be happy with a Spurs side of youth players battling it out now. We can't compete financially unless we get a new stadium so what's the point. I'd take the moral high-ground and let the others prostitute themselves for Murdochs millions. Football, after all, exists for the benefit of entertainment rather than the benefit of gormless footballers and money-grabbing media moguls.

I'm sort of with you on that, I don't expect top 4 or trophies until we get a new stadium or a sugar daddy.

I just hope until one or both happen that we can remain in the top 6 and bring through some academy kids. There's nothing more pleasing than seeing a local lad make it.

I just want to enjoy watching Spurs again.... haven't done that in a long while. Not that we haven't won or played pleasing football but just because the stakes were too high. Last season my local side, Eastbourne Boro (moved down here when I was 5), got relegated form the Blue Square Premier but I enjoyed going to see them more than I did Spurs because the fans and players were so much more...... I don't know...... approachable maybe? Grounded? I didn't have Sky telling me that every game was a blockbuster? It was just a good old game of football really. Also I wasn't watching a bunch of brain-dead morons throw themselves to the ground and then swear at the ref for more money than I could dream about.

God, what really put me off was the 2nd leg against Real Madrid. A bunch of players playing for one of the best clubs in the world, getting paid vast amounts, winning 4-0 on aggregate..... yet they still dived and argued and cheated at every opportunity. Ronaldo....... 30 seconds it took him to dive. Give me strength.

Harry's only real strength as a manager is getting the best out of the players and he seems to have given up on that. But my cup is still half full. We've played two sides who are easily the best in the country with a very poorly thought out team, ravaged by injuries. We did much better against Man U than a similarly ravaged Arsenal team did. Even yesterday the main issue was our stikers (again!). We had about as many good chances in the first hour as they did, except they buried theirs and we missed ours. Defoe seems to be reduced to pointless long range shots (when he tries to pass he's nowhere near - it was his abysmal ball to VdV that got him injured by having to stretch). If we can get over the disappointment and get Adebayor on form there's no reason why we shouldn't have a good chance against all the other teams. But we really do need to pick some holding midfielders, even if it means playing Corluka or Kaboul there

'Arry blaming someone or something else, what a surprise. Doesn't like how the media / Modric situation has led him to have a disasterous pre-season, didums, did he stop to think about anyone else when he was told to go for Parker weeks ago and not leave it until the last few days of the window? No he didn't, this could all have a been sorted.

Fact is, if him and his Chairman had an ounce of common sense they would have let Modric go for 30-35 and then reinvested weeks ago, Modric is a good player, but he's not worth more than that, instead you've got an unmotivated player on decent/high wages who now gets boo'd by the home fans, excellent!
