Classic contradictory message from 'Arry. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16960250 'I've never thought about the England job' and yet in the same article there is an interview with him talking about how he would 'find it hard to turn it down' He also told journalists that he was only focused on Tottenham, right after admitting in court that he lies to journalists. You couldn't make it up
coded message meaning: I know the whole country wants me, the FA wants me, the Spuds want me, the law can't touch me - so you are going to have to agree to whatever I want, around £6m per year - 3 year contract - full payment on ANY severance condition, and I will employ Arsehole Still (Sven's lawyer) who has already squeezed your balls.
He will probably become the England manager. The press will then claim that this is the type of manager that England need. The 'arm around your shoulder' type and he will bring the best out of them with the relaxed style of management compared to Fabio's cold and disciplined approach. Then England will fail and everyone will say the team had no discipline and the manager was too close to the players. And the cycle starts again. Yawn.
'Arry has to take it - at 64 there won't be another chance and he knows it. He'll get a 4 year contract out of it as well, they always go in numbers to take them through to major championships, Can't run the risk of a manager being out of contract as the team approach a world cup/euros. And yes, everything that's happened recently and the media furore around his case he has come out of it like the innocent victim, he is untouchable. My guess is he'll do the England job part time until May alongside his Tottenham role...
I don't mind Redknapp but that is a pile of bull right there. Never thought of the job!?!?! One thig is certain, he will make that England team play better. Man they are dull to watch....most of the time. Apart from Fergie, only Arry will be able to get the most out of the players. Unfortunately, they are just not good enough.... Just imagine if Wenger was put in charge of youth development in the UK, we would have an exciting England team that could actually play proper technical football by now! The FA are so clueless!!!!
To be fair to Redknapp though, he has at least got his team playing good football. McClaren was awful at Middlesbrough as well as England. I remember in his last season at Middlesbrough, a fan stormed along the touchline during a game and threw his season ticket at McClaren in disgust at the shambles that he was overseeing. A few months later - The FA had given McClaren the England job.
Agreed with the youth development bit, also no country will come along to nick the players he has developed!
