15/11/2013 By David McIntyre Harry Redknapp has indicated that Alejandro Faurlin may be given a new deal by QPR. Another knee injury has ruled the popular midfielder out for the rest of the season and his current contract expires next summer. That has raised questions over Faurlinâs future, but manager Redknapp insists he will be given the chance to rebuild his career at Loftus Road. Redknapp said: âIâd have to speak to the owners, but you wouldnât bomb a player out because heâs injured. Thatâs not something that youâd do. âYou donât cast him to one side without a contract because heâs not fit. The people who own this club wouldnât do that â not a chance.â Faurlin was stretchered off during the recent home win against Derby after suffering cruciate ligament damage for the second time in less than two years. It is a horrible setback for the 27-year-old Argentine, who was beginning to re-establish himself in the first team following his previous long-term problem. Prior to his new injury, Faurlin made it clear he wanted to sign a new contract at Rangers rather than keep his options open. âHeâs a smashing lad and itâs a real shame for him,â Redknapp added. âHe got back in the team and was playing very well. He was excellent at Wigan and again against Derby. âIâm sure Aleâs determined enough to come back. Iâm sure heâll come back and get his career back on track again.â http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-alejandrofaurlin-contract-7747333?
That brought a lump to my throat. “You don’t cast him to one side without a contract because he’s not fit. The people who own this club wouldn’t do that – not a chance.” I'm 100% sure Ale is going to be a mainstay in our team for many years to come.
This has made my day, when you look at the owners of Blackburn compared to our lot, we're countries apart
It might mean we attract a better calibre of player in future, if they see the club is loyal to it's employees? Currently i'd imagine the general impression is that anyone can be replaced and shut out in the cold at any moment ( the green/cesar thing).
Of course we shouldn't just throe him out but we shouldn't sign him if he's not going to be useful. Loyalty doesn't really matter in football but I wouldn't mind us changing that. I think the GK was down to Hughes in the first place and Cesar for not accepting a pay cut to go elsewhere. I don't blame those in charge.
Perhaps the quality and determination Ale has shown, is what Harry has seen that will serve the club well.
He's come back once already. He's a quality player & is well worth a contract extension IMO. Harry has obviously seen something in him to make him think he'll still be a valuable asset to the club. Don't forget this is the player Wenger had watched regularly during our first season back in the prem.
A year's contract would certainly be a gesture that the Club could afford. For all the effort Ale's put in I would be very comfortable with that outcome should his injury prove career ending.
A contract that allows him to prove hit fitness and that is cancelled if he couldn't seems the best way forward for both parties. I am pleased that Harry has said that though, Faurlin is one of the few who understands the club, and how much the fans have been through.
A contract with a get out for the club under certain circumstances is the way forward. Ale is one of the good guys and the club should do all it can to support him. Also a new contract would hopefully take any worry out of his mind and help his recovery along. Its also the humane thing to do.
I reckon we probably have the best Chairman in the league. On a previous thread someone asked how many chairman would have a drink with the fans before a match, not Vincent Tan that's for sure. In any case, I am assuming that we would be getting insurance money whilst Ale is out to ease the financial pain.
I was just thinking, if he'd kept playing the way he was before his first injury, he may have been in with an outside chance of playing in the World Cup next year (although not if he was still with us...)
Ale Tweeted this about an hour ago.... ''Primer paso logrado!!agradecido a Ramón cugat y su equipo!!salió todo muy bien!A empesar la rehabilitación! '' ( First step accomplished!! Don't be daft his knee will heal and he has the minerals to be top of the tree this player. He is a beautiful player with a bite and is QPR
