What a performer, No chance this song would be recorded or make the charts these days, diversity is dying. RIP mate
Used to like him a lot, Cy Grant also who used to sing in the same vein on the BBC Tonight programme. RIP, he got to a grand old age.
I never used to listen to anything like this cos me Mam liked it, so not cool ... ... it's only recently that I realise it's brilliant and brave. I'm not sure it would pass today's snowflake censors tbh.
Just listened to the speech he made on civil rights , brings a lump to the throat, always loved Harrys voice from way back in the 50's, pre Rock and Roll days, then later sailed on banana boats out of Avonmouth, Garston but mainly Southampton and often watched the tallyman at work in Port Antonio, Lucea or MO Bay. Harry's voice so full of warmth and charm captures the magic perfectly, I think Jamaica Farewell is on the other side of this single , whatever , RIP HB .
My ex wifes Aunty died and had a few records, I think I got 3 45s. The Seekers, We are on our way to Heaven, The Carnival is over and Harry singing this, amazing voice, never had my turntable out for ages
