Young Ellis has received a lot of stick and abuse on social media! He apparently tweeted about a City game recently in support of City (vs Forest). Last night he apparently was in the away end supporting City vs Cardiff. Not sure if thats true but there is a picture going around which kind of shows this could be the case! He did also tweet about last nights game too. Both times as a result of his comments, as you can imagine, some Rovers fans have taken great offence to this. Im not sure what the issue is myself. He, along with anyone else is entitled to support who he wants. As long as he puts in 100% when playing for us, I dont care. After all, Marcus Stewart is a City fan. He made that clear when he was playing for us back in the 90's. He even went on to play for them too. Now back with us, he is still a red but no Rovers fan uses the fact that he is a red against him. So why is it different for young Ellis then? What he tweeted wasnt anything bad either. It wasnt as if he said "Up the reds" for example. Also the picture of Ellis apparently in the away end last night supporting City has Gosling next to him. No one is giving Gosing stick or abuse. Is this just a witch hunt against Ellis because it seems this way!
If he gives a 100% when he playing for the Rovers I don't give a dam who he supports, I think it just comes down that some supporters have it in their minds to knock him whatever he does
Can't blame players for watching football match! I would have thought he risked getting stick from the City fans anyway. And he always gives 110 per cent for us, so it's not an issue as far as I'm concerned.
We really do have some horrible fans. Gasheads never use to be like this it must be a generation thing some of the vile **** that gets posted on Gaschat is well out of order and its not just Rovers related posts either. Lately I've been really fed up with supporting Rovers some many asshole fans verbally attacking each other on the forums (except this one of course ) just makes me want to call it a day sometimes.
please log in to view this image Sorry guys! Its not fair i don't ever get picked on - or picked for that matter!!!
Have to agree with you G79. At worst Harrison has been naive...and I understand it wasn't him who circulated the photo or whatever it is on Twitter! Sometimes I just want to walk away from the whole sorry scene that is football. I understand rivalry and banter, but for Gawd's sake there's so much evil and hatred in this world that bringing it into football is just wrong. I didn't want Rovers to spend another year in the Conference but some of the grounds I visited and some of the fans of these 'little' clubs were so welcoming that I sometimes think I could transfer my allegiance to a local club and probably enjoy things so much more.
It's time like this that proves I was right not to join those other forums because I would lose my head. If I joined them I would ruin so many threads having a go at people about their attitudes towards each other and our players.
Agreed CJ - i've just about had enough of some football fans and their belief they can speak to/about people how they want
JTS, I was brought up to treat fellow gasheads like family members. I have been disgusted by a lot of things that I have read in the last few years.
Its funny really - reading P49s thread a while ago about other sports we enjoy i think i now enjoy others more - might have a long hard think and possibly just call it a day
JTS, I said a month or so ago 'what is the point'. This was in reference to where do we want to be. I want Rovers to be in the prem or championship. But its never going to happen without a new stadium. A watered down version of UWE won't be enough. I don't think anything from this consortium is going to happen. You know more than me of course but the longer it goes on without anything coming out in the public, I doubt anything will ever come out in public. So we will never in my opinion go above league 1 and may never even break back into league 1. So what's the point in carrying on when you believe league 2 is where we will stay? If we do get UWE and real financial backing then we really could reach championship level but be honest with yourself, do you really think we will ever be able to afford to pay championship wages? City offered £6-9 million on 1 player in the summer. Can you see us ever doing that? No chance. With their money, they refused to pay the wages that was being demanded. Do you think we can afford championship wages? No chance. I really think UWE won't happen, we won't ever get a real financial backer who is a Lansdown and some how if we did, we wouldn't afford to reach the championship and stay in it. So championship level is just a dream. With our current board and stadium, a poor league 1 team is the best we can hope for but reality is we are an average league 2 team and this is our true level. No matter what our fan base is. So why bother wasting your money on watching home/away and on merchandise when you know deep down we are **** and will never ever reach the championship and maybe never reach league 1 again. Our loyal fans deserve better than this. But when you see our fans treat each other like **** and our players like ****, maybe we deserve to be league 2. We're Rovers supporters We're faithful and true We always follow The boys in blue and white We all made a promise That we'll never part So goodnight Irene I'll see you in my dreams. That's why I still am stupid enough to put myself through it. But it sure would be easier to give up though.
I guess we all need to stand up to these idiots. Some of them should get banned. Most of them probably hold down jobs and deal with customers politely etc. But when it comes to football they lose the plot. But it's only a very small minority of Rovers "fans". We've always been quite a family friendly club.
Apparently, Harrison has deleted his Twitter account. He has been forced to do so due to the abuse he was receiving. Brian Seymour-Smith has tweeted requesting people to stop the abuse. Its now reach the Bristol Post too online. All very embarrassing as he done no wrong. Looks like it was complimentary tickets that he was given from his good mate and fellow Wales u21 who is a City player - Wes Burns. Wes apparently wasn't involved in the game itself but probably was with him in the stadium watching the game. This will probably impact his performances now as well. Especially if he gets taunts from fans during the game. Hope people stick up for him. He needs to understand that haters will always hate but the majority of us back him.
Isn't Harrison from Newport as well? He's probably dislikes Cardiff just as much as we do . The 'enemy of my enemy' and all that
As you can see, no one is bothered on here about Harrison watching you lot, so you're barking up the wrong tree here. It's just a few twats on other forums who seem to be upset about nothing. It's up to him what he does in his spare time. Like it was up to Marcus Stewart what he did in his spare time when he was with us playing back in the 90's. He made it known he was a true red. Did he get stick for it? No. Why? As long as he kept banging in the goals for us, especially against your lot, no one cared. Truth is though, unlike Stewart, Harrison is not actually a City fan. So nice try about clapping and singing but my opinion, that's just utter nonsense and just bait to get someone to bite. Again you are barking up the wrong tree here. You need to post that on the other forums if you want a bite Even if he did clap and sing though, it doesn't bother me or most gasheads. Just because he plays for us it doesn't mean he supports us. Again like Stewart for example. Or Mildenhall who regularly watches Swindon, who he supports. But Harrison doesn't support your lot. Harrison is great friends with Wes Burns. They often communicated via twitter together. As you know the Cardiff game was a bubble match. Harrison is obviously not a season ticket holder at City to be able to get a ticket. It was complimentary tickets that he got obviously from his mate Burns. Common sense really. Jermaine Easter and Jake Gosling was with Harrison. They haven't got any stick from these shallow minded small minority of so called gasheads. Just Harrison. Reason why is because he has made other mistakes in the past and some people use anything they can to have a go at him. As you can see in that link, majority supports him and see nothing wrong with him watching your game amongst your fans. I bet most of these fans on Harrison's back watched your game on sky so are just a bunch of hypocrites. Oh and I just remembered another reason Harrison doesn't support you. Can you imagine him supporting a club whose fans spat at him the last time and he received racist comments too apparently when he played against City previously? Its a non story and will soon be forgotten when he gets yet another last minute winner or scores at Wembley again to help win us promotion. Night Shiny
Stopped reading after "as you can see" as I just cant be bothered to read that much, this late, but just want to point out the first part of my sentence was true, last bit.... well could be! Wasn't sat far from me and I know the guy who posted the picture on twitter, him being there was quickly pointed out and I think pretty much everyone knew who and where he was before K/O. Was all over my twitter so wasn't hard to miss.
