Harpers Proposed Testimonial.

Wednesday brought the following twitter postings from former Magpie custodian Steve Harper regarding his proposed testimonial match later this year:

Speaking during a talk-in event late last season, Harper confirmed that he hoped to organise a veterans match on Tyneside (ideally at SJP) with proceeds going to benefit the work of several smaller charities in the region.

The proposed opposition is an AC Milan "Glorie" XI who regularly assemble to play friendly matches and have visited Indonesia and Georgia in recent months.

These guys will no doubt be a bit heavier and a bit slower than they were in their playing days but they'll still have that bit of class and some of the deft touches they used to have.

Harps not taking a penny out of it and all proceeds benefiting local charities.

 

Sounds like it will be an awesome game. Some proper legend's and all for a good cause, got Harps written all over it. Hope he gets to play infront of a packed St James'. Who else do we want/think will play for the NUFC legends? we have Harps in goal, Ginola on the wing and Shearer upfront any guesses. My guess would be Sir Les, Phillipe Albert, Rob Lee and Warren Barton will all be there.

 

I'll be there to cheer on Harps.

 

Would be great to see them all back at SJP in B&W again.
