With the sad news about Brix I don't feel much like posting, but I think he would want the board to keep busy as usual, so.... Story on SSN (sorry I have the app and can't post a link), has Harold very upbeat about building a strong team, new players in mind, having a real crack at the Championship, 'quite excited by the challenge'. Almost as if he'd been told to change the 'it's difficult, we're ****' record. Then he ruins it by saying Andy Johnson is looking really sharp in training and Zamora is getting better 'so we don't have to look outside what we already have for everything'. Jesus.
Well said about Brix SB. I believe that Brix's last ever words on this board pertained to Harry's recent attitude and tactics, signing out with the words: "What a mess". Well, he wasn't wrong. Glad to see that Harold is belatedly changing his tune somewhat, he needed to change that doom and gloom record. To be honest, if they can stay fit (and I know that that's a massive IF, particularly in the case of Zamora who apparently isn't fit enough to even sit down at half time), then I can see the pair of them doing a job for us in the Championship next season. That could just be wishful thinking though...
Agree, its hard to know if its right to keep posting about what are now trivial matters what with Brix's passing. But as you say this board was a passion of his. Regarding Johnson and Zamora - we cannot rely on them again like we have this season. Both are injury prone and dont score many goals. We need to find young and hungry players like Bolasie of Palace.
Just on Zamora, apparently he doesn't need that oft-mentioned 2nd hip op after all, which I find difficult to get my head around; wasn't the reason cited for him being only able to play 40-50 minutes per game that very procedure??!!
Absolutely. Like many I have avoided being too critical of BZ because we were told that he was playing with a condition that seriously limited his movement and would need surgery once the competitive season was over. If the performances of the last few months have been from a player from whom we can expect to see no improvement then I really don't see why he would be rated even for a job in the Championship.
Don't even go there with AJ and Bobby. If that is where our hope lies, we are doomed. We're probably doomed to a season or three in the NPC until a team is formed that gets back to winning ways. It's as much about the psychology as the ability.
About bleeding time Arry changed the record! Started getting really tired of his nonsense. Andy Johnson though will get us goals, +20 imo. Zamora is another thing though, wouldn't mind seing him shifted. Keep the board active lads, Brixton wouldn't want it any other way.
I can see clubs wanting to buy Diakite, Mbia, Granero, Remy(?), etc. (and them wanting to go to those clubs) The chances are there will be fewer wanting Johnson, Zamora, SWP, and the players not wanting to go. These are the players who will probably stay. Get some younger, hungrier players in, but the likes of Zam, John and SWP will do a good job. However, all of this depends on what really is going on in the dressing room. Are there different factions? Is the problem down to a few individuals? It could be that if we got rid of Hill, Mackie and Derry then everything would fall into place. (Don't shoot me, I don't believe that either.) We don't know. Harry has the job of working that out.
Whatever happened to that young striker we signed from non-league whose name I can't remember? Personally, I don't think HR will stick around for too long. The PL is where he wants to be and QPR might not be back for a while. Don't know why but I can't really see him as having the energy and drive to get us out of the Championship. As for Zamora, really surprised he managed to make so many appearances. How many times does he take up a goal scoring position? I'd rather go with Bothroyd for the Championship - he's got the pedigree at that level and can score the goals and get the assists we need, if he's given some help.
