What has Harding done to tick off many Saints fans?

Team of the year in league one last term and a regular starter for us. Works hard for the team and in my opinion a good player who should be in the defence as much as possible.

Possible move for him to right back perhaps? I don't like the thought of having three good left backs and two of those losing morale through lack of games and disrupting team spirit...

There's a long hard season ahead of us and players get injured. It's a team game as Nigel the Oracle is always trying to tell us. Competition means others have to up their game. No room for coasting in this team.
P.s. not aimed at Harding specifically.

Good point Fran, however I'm not a big believer in buying success, example of Man City springs to mind. I'm all for strengthening the team but would have though a centre half would have been higher on the Don's and Nige's list?

    Striker to follow please.

Harding was excellent last season! Excellent! Very consistant!

There is always one player that gets stick and last season that was punch, then harding when punch wasnt playing here! Dont get it!

Each to there own i suppose

I really like Harding, he works his socks off and never gives up, I don't think Fox will walk into the team because Harding has quite rightly earned his place, but Fox looks more like a player that could step up to the Premier Division than Harding

This team is being built though and players are brought into strengthen the squad. We're not guilty of buying lots of players willy-nilly just to have them. Nige himself said during the off season that we have a team and need a few extra players to fit it, unlike other teams who are having to buy a whole team.

Maybe it was just a case of this deal was easier/quicker to complete than whatever else we have in the pipeline! I just wonder who is being looked at, who Cortese is speaking to, oh to be a fly on the wall at St Mary's!

I like Harding as well so it has to be a good thing that we not only have a good starting XI but also strength in depth in most positions!

Perhaps because Harding can't defend... If you look at the Leeds game I lost count of how many times he was the wrong side of his marker and last season he was at fault for so many of our goals conceded. I don't care how good he is at going forward (he's not that good) his primary job is to DEFEND!

I reckon people who play in attacking positions themselves think he is good and people who play in defensive positions realise how poor he is at marking and that he has the positional sense of a headless chicken.

How many games did you watch last year?? He was especially hopeless defensively in the away games.

Every home game and over 10 away games..I wasn't aware you knew more than Adkins? Harding has been a mainstay in the defence since he arrived.

I think Harding will stick around though - Nige seems to like him. Dickson on the other hand I reckon will go before the end of August...

I think we only had a good defensive record due to the fact that EVERY team came to park the bus. When we had to defend (especially away from home), Harding cost a LOT of goals.

Well, Adkins has just gone and signed a new LB. Surely, he feels this is an area for improvement?

RorSFC - I've not really come across you on here before, but I think you and I are going to get on very well. It's always good to come across people who also realise Harding's defensive failings, especially his positioning.

So you think because Adkins played him that he's the bees knees?? He's just gone and bought a replacement as he's quite obviously the weak link in our team.

Adkins clearly rates him above all our other left backs..yeah I'm sure Fox will play more games as he's a better player, but for what Harding has done for our team, he doesn't deserve a large amount of abuse from many fans such as yourself

So is that why he picked Dickson for the last few games then? Harding is terrible and I'm absolutely made up that we've signed a quality replacement and I for one hope his days in a Saints shirt are numbered.
