Being a Sunderland fan is very hard work. In my life time (45 yrs) it always has been and from speaking to my Dad it was always the same for him. Now thats over 60 years for him.

It takes a special breed to be a Sunderland fan, someone with the constitution of an Ox. Seriously, 1973 was the last time we won anything of significance and before that it was 1937. For those who struggle with math, that's 1 trophy in 74 years. So if your a glory hunter you may want to pass on our wonderful club.

We could probably trademark the word yoyo, as it appeared at one stage we were up and down more often than a hookers drawers.

To make it all even harder, we have to deal with the barcode problem we have not far up the road. Irrespective what they may say or sprout on these boards, we are two massive clubs with a huge base support that other so called big clubs would love to have.

So to my fellow struggling Sunderland fans, I would not and could not support any other club than this beautiful institution that is SAFC and I raise my glass to all that are sailing this ship with me.

I would like to say that SAFC have broken my heart more times than I care to mention, but then they have also given me some of the most special days of my life. It's a roller coaster ride for sure, and I don't ever want to get off.

So if you don't like hard work, you could always go up the road. There's a ****e team that wears black and white and they'll take anyone.

Nice one mate, at one point a few years ago I thought we would be changing our name to Sunderlandyoyo it was getting that bad. I'm 2 years older than you so will have experienced the same highs and lows, there is no way on this or any other planet that I'd support the fools of NE1 (as the postcode says they'll take anyone), got to admit they'd say exactly the same.
I think we all thought that we would be consolidating this year and maybe moving on a bit, not talking about top 6 here but the performances and decisions by players management and the top men have left most of us scratching our heads. I seriously think that we are lurching from one disaster to another, that has got to be stopped now or we will be in big trouble. This is where Bruce and Quinn will have to earn their money and develop a harder attitude to the players overall, this I think is one of the problems we have and why we are struggling.
 
I'm 46. This is my 37th season. No one said it would be easy back then but then again, I didn't think it would be this hard either. Lol

If I knew back then what I know now would I have still chosen Sunderland? Too bloody right I would.


It's a question that requires no answer. A football club is like your family. No matter how bad they are, you stick with them. Regardless how much pain they bring you are always there for them. This is in your blood. It's just how it is and I wouldn't change my allegiance for all the trophies in the old trafford cabinet.

I love Sunderland AFC. Full stop.

Cant tell you how many times I have left, slamming the door behind me, had enough, **** them, thtas me done.

With two wives I stuck to it, with a never ending possession of messiha's, all ready to lead me to the promised land, no, could not do it and always came scurrying back, one last time, but this is it, dont do it again.

They always do.
 
Had mine in 85 mate at 21 and it still hurt like hell, especially after the euphoria of my first season when we were promoted thought I was lucky charm.
