Newcastle fan in peace. Not come on here to gloat like some others, tbh it's gutting to see you out at the expense of Chelsea and their Russian oil money as surely most other self-respecting football fans would be. That's the way it goes sometimes, football is a cruel mistress. Good luck for next season lads, hope to see a couple of class games between our sides
Cheers mate. Nice to see someone actually realise it's incredibly harsh for a team that's legit qualified to suffer at the hands of this stupid rule. Good luck for next season - though don't take all the wonder players this time round ok?
Haha, aye we'll have Graeme Carr out looking for a few more gems like! I've got a lot of sympathy for you especially considering it could so easily have been us if the last day of the season had gone differently, such a shame you had to be screwed over. Got a lot of time for Spurs in general, good team with talented players, let's both of us try and attack those CL places again next year!
I know we're still in the competition at least but I think we might have to go into the qualifying at the playoffs now. Not sure on that at all though.
You guys have the basis of a good team there. You've surprised a lot of people this year - me included. If you can keep the important components of your team together, and add one or two more, you could be up there again. I'm sure the predators will come sniffing around this summer, though. As they will at our place, too.
I think one or two will probably be moved on if the price is right (apart from Ba who we might not have much choice with, ask Redknapp about that). We don't have to sell if we don't want to because we're in the advantageous position of 1) having our best players like Tiote, Krul, Coloccini, Cabaye, Cisse tied down to long-term contracts and 2) we're operating on an even financial keel. Ashley has this reputation that he'd sell just about anyone just to get his hands on a couple of million quid which is quite unfair. Look at the players he's sold. Carroll at 35 million he would've been mad not to sell, Enrique went for only 5mil because he was holding the club to ransom, and Nolan's legs had completely gone. Hell he even let Barton go for free because he hated his guts so much. Got a lot of flaws Ashley but Pardew himself said the other day that he's a tough as hell businessman who is hard to negotiate with and he'll only sell players if the price is right. We're going for a sustainable model of selling the odd player here and there to rich idiots who can't be bothered to scout properly at a massive profit while buying cheap elsewhere and hopefully improving the team as a whole. Having said that we'll now sell them all and come 15th next season
