I'm back and fighting fit. Thank you for all your kind messages (there weren't nearly enough) - I am genuinely touched. The flowers are beautiful, Shameless. I have printed them off and put them on my mantelpiece. While in hospital, I got to know a television presenter rather well. Said personality was having an operation to unblock his vas-deferens. The poor sod was in absolute agony, but I managed to keep up his morale with one or two anecdotes about my search of the crypts beneath Chichester Cathedral. He soon recovered and discharged himself within the hour. It feels good to be back. Hurrah!
