Guineas hope Harbour Watch suffers setback

HARBOUR WATCH, a general 10-1 chance for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas on May 5, has suffered a setback and faces a race against time to be fit for Newmarket.

The Richard Hannon-trained colt missed the end of the last season with a leg injury and connections said on Thursday that his latest setback will rule him out of running in a Classic trial.

Assistant trainer Richard Hannon junior said: "Due to the setback he'll not be able to run in a trial.

"Our plan at this stage remains to aim for the 2,000 Guineas but time is tight and he is not a certain runner by any means. We'll do our best to get him there."

Harbour Watch, who remains unbeaten in three starts, won the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood in July.
 
A great pity but how can anyone now expect it to run, let alone win, the 2000?
 
such a shame. i though this horse was going to be the star of the coming flat season. given all the injuries, setbacks ect, i wonder if we'll ever see the the full potential of this horse.
 
I echo that. Great shame, This horse showed a great temprement as a 2 year old in his last run dragged more or less completely across the track but showed a great turn of foot to put the race to bed. His form as a 2 year old is pretty good aswell. I hope We do see him as a 3 year old...

As for the the 2000 Guineas that trophy will be heading back to Ballydoyle. Look at his army of horse for the coming season its absolutely frightening. The Guinea's for example. Camelot, Apollo, Nephrite, Power, Wrote. Take your pick?
