Just a few thoughts on yesterday´s game
As much has already been said,
The one point we brought back home in the frame
Cheered me both in heart and in head

Maybe it´s something to do with my age
But any away point seems good,
Whether it be those on top of the page
Or those buried under the hood

There are two sides in every match
    And yesterday neither would lose,
And as QPR were home on their patch
´Twas better to be in our shoes

As one point apiece must seem like a loss
To them, while to us it´s one gained,
And although at times both served up some dross
Our work ethic it never waned

And sometimes where fear of losing is great
The will to win also goes west,
And certainly that one was one I would rate
As a point that was vital to wrest

Particularly as our form has been poor
These last two games have helped a bit,
Both quite different, ending a draw
Means that we have halted the slip

And sometimes even in the Premier League
One gets games where ruggedness wins,
And it´s not always just down to fatigue
More down to defensive king-pins. OTBC

    Have a good week all,

    Yours

Hi RBF, fine words indeed, maybe it's an age thing, I do appreciate the desire to see pretty passing football, but I remember football when it was a man's game and if you were trying to score for your team, the opposing defender, if he could catch you, would send both you and the ball as far upfield as he could kick you! Not pretty to watch, but damned effective!

The old style defenders would be sent off with their first scuffle these days, but we old 'uns remember with a nostalgic yearning, the strengths of big Duncan Forbes, Ron "Chopper" Harris, Norman "bites yer legs" Hunter and many more!

    Happy days!

ah,yes, and no whingeing to the ref about every little incident. and no contact with hands or arms on an opponent as is in the laws of the game.

Personally I´m just delighted to be IN the Premier League, and if we can possibly establish ourselves over the next few years, that would be better still. I guess having watched in the 50 ´s and 60 ´s we´re more able to be tolerant of mediocre performances now and again than some of the younger generation, who seem to expect us to take the league by storm, and relive the wonder Bayern Munich days of Walker and Deehan. I can´t see that happening again for many, many years I´m afraid, and probably if then, it´ll only be through winning one of the Cup competitions, but as I said, just being here is good enough for me. <ok>
