Saw my old man today, card and alcohol exchanged hands in recognition of the annual ritual, and it was then he told me he'd been the victim of fraud this week. Fake Paypal emails going out, catching computer novices like my Dad out. Luckily Santander were alert and spotted it early, and he now knows better than to provide all his details following emails with spelling mistakes in. So a harsh lesson this Father's Day for Party Hull senior. Be vigilant.
I almost got caught out with a clever bank one. They e-mailed me from an address which matched a domain used by my bank for their website, so looked genuine. Both the email content and the page it linked to looked exactly like the online banking page I regularly use. It was only when it asked for mroe details than usual that my suspicions were aroused and I noticed the URL in my browser was nigerianprince.com or something.
