This is for discussion, it is my view over the last few days of transfer and loan fever. What do you think?

The arrival of Darnell Situ (youngster) has been long awaited and no fault of the player.
Rory Donnelly (youngster) is a signing for the future.
We already have a few youngsters playing in the first team squad.

So, why do we really want Josh McEachran? Why do we want Ryo Miyaichi? Chelsea and Arsenal both like the way Swansea play their football, so they are willing to loan us these youngsters - to play in our team and gain premier experience. Pull the wool away from your eyes. If Chelsea like youngsters, why don't they play him in their team? If Arsenal like youngsters, and forwards, why get Henry on loan for 6 weeks when they want to loan us a striker that no-one had heard of?

Why do we want a player from a lowly Championship club, never played in the Premier? Great that he (Maynard) is at scoring goals, but he was doing the same when we had a player called Trundle!!! I believe we even tried to get him at the same time.

We need experience. We need someone who can 'get-stuck-into' these 6ft plus midfielders that step 'over-the-top' of our guys.
What would happen if we received an offer in the next few days for Williams (say £12M), Taylor (say £6M) and Allen (say 12M). Do we have the replacements? Bearing in mind we could lose Caulker, where do we turn? Suppose we can always get some Greek defenders if they are out of contract!!!!!!!

I believe we need to get our youngsters out on loan to premier/championship teams. Seems a great idea for them to play at a good standard, then we have reserves that are playing.

This is not about clearing out the chaff. Yes there are some to go, and we can all think of a few 'off the cuff'. BUT WHAT DO WE NEED?

I really hope we do not lose anybody, but we must be prepared.

Should we really be taking on these loans at the 'cost' of our current players?

Please, lets make this a sensible discussion to get through the next few days.

yes we need them as some of ours are not really constant premiership standard. we are going for glory and another £45+ million so we can progress and try to become an established premiership side....

And we'll do that by selling Allen, Williams, Taylor?

JackSwan. Great article and agree with everything you say. This Josh kid may look the mutts, but he has no Premier league experience. Maynard may score goals for fun in the CCC, but he has no PL experience. Why should we risk our PL status to help out other clubs? Stick with what we have and get in some back up for the first team. The guys we have are doing a great job so far and I'm very confident we will stay up this year. I won't be confident should we sell our best players.

Also, why all this mention of needing a striker? I'v said it many times, and I'll say it again. Danny Graham is a goalscorer, he's our top scorer and given the ammo, he will hit the bullseye. He's not getting the service to provide the goals, it's as simple as that.

danny is going to have to fight off maynard if we get him....and you ask why brendan wants another striker.....maybe he is not happy with the amount of goals in the premiership we are scoring.......

Which is down to the supply.

Dyer cannot cross. Okay, his shooting has improved but how many has he scored? How many has Scott scored? How many has Allen scored? Britton? Moore? Lita?

Graham is a top striker. I'd take him 10 times over Maynard. I think a few eyes need to be opened and actually look at how many chances we actually create. DO you want DG to magic the ball to his feet? I'm sure he would love that to happen, but it won't.

I'm not a big fan of loans . When there gone , all that's left is players you own with minimal minutes . It's why I'm desperate to BUY a quality CB so we can prepare him for the following season instead of just throwing him to the deep end after Caulkers gone .

Who did he have to better?

    Luke Moore....Not hard is it.

So, what's the point in having two strikers when they have no supply?

The problem we have is goalscorers, obviousley. Arsenal play like us, but they have players who can score. We need a decent att midfielder and change our formation a little. It was effective when Moore played just behind Graham. Get a decent player in there instead of Moore and there will be a difference.

Not quite Ash, though it's fair to say, that generally over the last 6 games or so, the service has been poor, but if you look over the video of the Villa game you will see that, Graham should have had 3 goals at least, he had excellent service, and missed three sitters, which someone of Borini's quality would have buried, with his eye's closed. Our midfield stepped up a gear in the Villa game, and provided the service to Graham, that we have all been crying out for, but he fluffed his lines on at least three occasions, and while I rate Danny boy, he's not clinical enough, and that maybe the issue that Rodgers wants to address, I recommend you look over the video of the game, if you recorded it!................

I like danny boy but he has not set the world alight on his own up front hence we are one of the lowest scorers, he scored a screamer against barnsley (abet a championship club) from a midfield spot where to me he is better suited. we definately need a striker who can poach goals close in better than danny has shown so far and thats probably why Brendan is looking at players like maynard who is known as that type of player.....

So, for one game, he had the service, but he didn't deliver. COuld this be down to rustiness because he didn't get ANY service for 3 games previous?

I'm not saying he's the best out there, BUT we need to address the fact our midfield doesn't score enough goals.

P.s. Dai, it's not easy upfront on your own and he's hardly, Rooney/RvP/Messi is he.

    P.s.

Danny was top scorer in CCC last season, so he knows where the net is. The PL is a huge step up, so for me Maynard is a waste of money if it doesn't work. Remember, he's nowhere near DG's goal haul of last season, half way that is.

Ash, Graham has missed a lot of sitters this season, I've lost count how many times, when he was one on one with the keeper, he handed the ball to the keeper, instead of burying it!............................

agree and thats his problem dragon, he is great at holding the ball up and he can run all day but one on one is his weakness and im sure brendan can see that. if we played two up front it would suit him better but because we dont play that way very often then we do struggle for goals in the premiership, Look at him playing a championship team he was in his element but im afraid premiership defenders are a lot quicker and close him down that he is not use to that and he loses the ball or his shots are weak and off target......He will get the odd goal of course he will but a better striker will score more goals......

So what a lot of you are saying is that Graham doesn't 'cut the mustard'. Okay, if so, why doesn't Lita or Moore get match time? Why go for Maynard? Why go for the Arsenal youngster he is never going to play!
Okay we may have problems out wide, but would a better delivery give us goals? Would they be scored? Do we want the wide men to shoot more, if so why are we getting young midfielders?

Whilst I understand Dai's comments about staying in the league and getting that 'wad' of money again, but would we have a team? These loanees would not be here next year. Our old stalwarts would be a year older, and needless peeved that they got looked over.

I just don't know if these young lads are going to suit us. I'd love to stay up, I enjoy the 'buzz' but what is our way forward?

Just borrowed this from another thread.

"Really hope we loan you guys McEachran, top talent who needs to play regularly.. he's pretty much a fans favourite at our place already and a lot of people have been calling for him to play..

Think Rodgers will do wonders with him.. Prefer him to go to you guys rather than Bolton as they appear to be in a relegation battle and may not want to take the risk playing an 18yr old and opt for experience instead.

You also play good football which will suit him down to the ground.. Fair to say i'll be watching Swansea a whole lot more if he goes to you!"

Why experience at our risk, why not blood our own youth!!

because the premiership is a tough league to play in jack swan and we are not exactly blessed with young talent who would be able to step up to the mark. also we are a small club with no academy and its our first season here and we need to use every avenue available to us to make sure we have a chance of staying here. an academy is a must for us where in a few years time it could be us who are loaning out these youngsters, but at this present time we are not ready....
