England
We were pretty ordinary in the first half and damn right inept in the second half. Spearing had a shocker but is still learning. Enrique was hammered throughout by Valencia. Suarez was pretty ineffectual and our "wingers" were shocking. But, what hurt the most, was Gerrard and others looking bereft at 1-0 and 2-0. Every time we got the ball it looked as though there were no options, no-one making themselves available and a lack of ideas. Gerrard is normally the catalyst for everything good at LFC but even him, no ESPECIALLY him, seemed utterly resigned to the fact we would lose.

It was the poorest showing by LFC since Bolton and on a par with the Spurs defeat. We lacked urgency and creativity not for the first time this season. I was honestlt embarrassed by that showing. The better team won but, to be honest, if Brighton or Cardiff put in a half-decent showing then we can kiss any success goodbye.

Was a poor performance. Got no arguments with the result. So slow in attack and didn't look like getting anything at any point today.

We need to do what we have when we have had these sort of performances... Go on a good run. After the Bolton game, we got through to the Carling Cup final, beat United in the F.A Cup, had a good win at Wolves and then we were the first team in about 20 games to stop Spurs from scoring.

Need a response like after the Bolton game. Wins in our next three games against Brighton in the F.A Cup, Cardiff in the Carling Cup final and Arsenal in the league and things will look a lot better.

<ok>

Enrique came back 1 game to early from injury imo and after the studs up challenge caught Spearing in the plums he did'nt look up to it.
Gerrard was static compared to the way he was before his injury'
Suarez played like he was avoiding contact with an opposition player on the few occasions we were on the attack.

What pissed me off most was our players chasing lost balls and gifting it back to the mancs cheaply ie; saving a throw in but leaving the ball for the utd wide man to pick up.

Overall we got what we deserved on the pitch and the non handshake gave the Utd boss the opportunity to take the moral high ground and to attack LFC verbally.

All round bad day at the office.

Very poor performance and frankly, the wrong tactics. We went for a draw and failed badly. We had no plan B and it showed. Shame really because I think Utd are not that great and vulnerable at the back.

I was amazed we didn't get at them more and equally amazed we didn't start with Bellamy who's been by far our best option of late and even felt a bit sorry for Mandy having to make way for Suarez. No complaints about the result...just hope lessons are learned <ok>

it's good to be talking about football again and not the rest of the crap - and that just what the side issues are - crap!

Firstly the OT pitch did neither side any favours. It really was a bog under foot and the ball just did not/would not run. Hence the passing from both sides lost a lot of its pace and accuracy. They eventually adapted better to it than we did.

My biggest regret was that Downing was not hooked-off far quicker. He left Enrique out to dry far too often and added precious little to our attacking play. In the first 25 mins he made little or no attempt to match the superiority that we had established on the other flank. As Page said, Spearring appeared to lose all confidence and sharpness following the kick in the nuts (who did that?) but we had nobody other than Carra to replace him with.

Gerrard looked as though he was knackered before the game even started. I accept that with the team as it was set up, he was always going to play far deeper, but he looked like he had lost the fight. Until Adam came on there were very few ranging balls played.

As usual the back 4 were solid and gave the United defence a lesson in how to make teams play in front of you.

All in all a bad day at the office.

Dave, saying Downing offered precious little is giving him way too much credit <laugh> he is a bloody liability at the moment.

I thought we let Scholes dictate far too much but I just felt the ultimate difference was that Wellbeck and Rooney played very well in terms of movement and holding the ball up etc and not one of our attacking players did that for us <ok>

I thought that Rooney played his best game against us. I don't agree with Wellbeck. To me he's just a leggy pony with little true goalscoring class. The conditions made him look far better than he really is.

As for the United midfield. Let's say that we dropped too deep. After all it wasn't under great pressure and yet it failed to make many truly incisive breaks and played a lot in front of us.

Perhaps I'm looking for excuses (probably am) but I do know that they were only slightly better than we were.

If we were bad, how bad were they? Considering we handed both their goals to them on a plate.

Agree with Dave about Wellbeck, he's like Bambi on ice, like playing Djimi Traore up front! Gerrard, Downing, Henderson snd Spearing were woeful. Lest we forget this is a united side that has to get 37 year old players out of retirement to make up the numbers! Shocking result, shocking game.
