Been on various forums today and your fans seem to be in total shock about this situation on the whole,, now I am not here to WUM but based on the situation liverpool find themselves in terms of position, torres body langauage and the mindset of footballers these days can you really say that this was a shock? We have seen this happen 3 times this year already with various players.

What are your feeling about him now, do you dislike him, do you accept the situation and wish him well etc ?

We're shocked mate purely because he came out a few weeks ago saying he wanted to stay. Nothing has changed since then other than we have actually improved and spent over 20mill in the transfer market. But for some reason he's decided to do a U turn and, with 3 days left in the window, decided he wants out, which leaves us in a ****ty situation. I've lost all respect for him as have most LFC fans. If he'd have gone in the summer we'd have more sympathy for him and wished him luck. But like this? Disgraceful.

I personally beleive although it will make your squad weaker you should get rid of him ASAP. Everyone saw how his head dropped under hodgson and how he looked like he could not care less. It was at times like having ten players on the pitch for liverpool. Do you really want another 5 months of a player not putting in the effort or would you rather just get rid now and plan the future with who to get in the summer?

What are your thoughts on sturridge btw? Could be a good move, although I would feel sorry for him, heard the lad on talksport a couple of weeks ago saying how much he liked it at chelsea and was really finding his feet, loved london etc and seemed to have a good head on his shoulders. Seems a shame to have to uproot him as a make wieght in some deal. But then again he might get more game time for pool and he would probably love that. And it would be helpful forthe England side aswell.

I was shocked mainly because it didn't happen earlier in the window. I half expected it at the beginning of the month while Hodgson was still here (good job it didn't come then, or who knows what Roy might have done about it!) but once that passed and kenny came in, I thought his sulking had passed and he'd be committed.

The thing that would worry me about this situation is what it says to players like gerrard and reina, if torres were to leave hwo do you think they would feel looking at the situation?

Losing players like alonso, mascherano and torres in 18 months would be a body blow to any club I would imagine.

It's just weird knowing he doesn't want to play for us anymore. I think now he's shown his hand he can't stay, the fans aren't going to trust him like we did before, his teammates are probably feeling betrayed especially the Spanish lads.

The fact he wants to go isn't the biggest problem it's the timing... We've just signed a talented striker in Suarez, which is clearly a sign of the new bosses intent, so why's he thinking of jumping ship! It's all so very disappointing!!

i`m not shocked by anything modern footballers do or say, they are all very shallow and vacuous. we`re all mugs for buying the overpriced shirts with their names on. nothing worse than a team being held to ransome by a person who has no idea of quite how much they are earning compared to the fans. i hope they are rid of him in summer if he wants to go, same with that ungratefull prima dona at mank U, mr rooney who doesn`t even think that england fans have a right to boo when the team is appauling. i`m off to the pub now, who`s coming

From an outsiders perspective i think it is a massive shock. Liverpool are still a prestigious club regardless of their current position, its a sign of the times that one of the leagues biggest players wants to leave a club like Liverpool for one of its biggest rivals in the modern era.

If i was a red i would be sick that he could act this way to the club. If he wanted to leave to go back to Spain then that would be acceptable, but this situation says alot about the modern game

I think Torres should stay put and help Liverpool get back to where they are used to.Players are happy to sign contracts, and no doubt insist on long contracts for security- where is the security for the teams.

I understand why he wants to move but the timing and club chosen i don't. why wait 3 days until the window closes? why not bang on the 1st of Jan? and Chelsea? come on Torres at least have some self respect.

Hopefully he'll stay and we'll ship him off to Barca or somewhere in the Summer

its a massive shock. I'd hold off, promise him a move in the summer so he can use the next few months as a shop window and then auction him off to the highest bidder

Difference with other players who left us is big.

Alonso gave his all in every game he played and then moved on. Whether you think he could have stayed or not is an argument no-one is going to win. The fact is, he played his arse off and then left. He did it the right way.

Mascherano was similar up until the whole Man City debacle. He'd wanted out for over a year, and barring a little dip initially he mostly played well and gave his all. He blotted his copybook with the way he forced it through in the end, but by and large he put a shift in and did his job.

Torres on the other hand has blatantly not given a **** for ages, and despite the myriad of excuses that have been made for him by fans who didn't want to accept what he was doing, he's now proved it by putting in a transfer request three days before the transfer window shuts in mid season.

Puts a whole new slant on this 'oh look he's playing now that Hodgson has gone and we have a new manager'. He wasn't doing it for Kenny, he was doing it for Chelsea, to prove to them he isn't as **** as he's been showing for months. One of the few exceptions to his ****ness was the game against Chelsea. Wonder why.
