An inquiry into the defence implications of possible Scottish independence is due to get under way at Westminster. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-18683868 "One of the major issues in post-referendum negotiations would be the fate of Trident, Britain's nuclear weapon system currently based at Faslane." **** you ****s those nukes belong to us, we will go to war to protect them ps; the oils ours too
First Minister Alex Salmond has previously said a Scottish Defence Force would consist of one naval base, one air base and one mobile armed brigade. Thats' the Rangers away support future employment sorted.
If we got independence we just open our Faslane base upto NATO. The English would still pay us a rent to keep there nuclear weapons based there or in other words a treaty. Feck sake American missile launchers are based in the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
**** you, the nukes were paid for by the wealty English taxpayer they therefore belong to us. (same as the north sea oil) ****s
You dont own the north sea oil ya baloon, it is rented out to mostly Norwegian and American companies and then leased out to small british firms, if scotland got its independence and since it is in our territory all contracts would belong to us!
Your Tax, behave ya numpty, why does us Jocks have a better standrd of livng if you English own the Oil?
im more scottish biased than most but even i suspect this is bullshit. unless you are discounting the south east of england? The north is a **** hole.
why would you give us free Uni education, free prescriptions, better Council housing. If you were subsidising us? Cos we give more money in than we take out ya numpty, and the conservatives no it!
Realistically we all have to take a pragmatic approach to the situation. The nukes are something the Scots don't want so it means the English should get a decent price for them. We've had them on our land for long enough so any disparity on the amount of tax revenue (on behalf of there being a larger tax paying population residing down south) required to building them should be offset by this. The oil is in Scottish waters so belongs to us but I'm sure we would be prepared to offer our English cousins a discount on the price compared to, say, the French. Besides, as much as it would be an attractive source of revenue for a fledgling Country, it is still a finite resource so should not be counted on for the long term. That's not even mentioning the level of volatility inherent in the price of fuel. The water you English require to minimise the impact of regional droughts is where we Scottish citizens shall reap the biggest reward in the long term. We might all moan about the weather here but our ability to harness that most basic of human resources puts us in a strong position so whatever money you don't pay us for the oil, we'll get from you when you need to buy our water (although you won't need to buy as much in 50 years once the effects of global warming sends everything south of the Thames into the sea). In addition to all that, our wind farms (when they're all up and running) will generate a cheap and pollution free environment that will generate the energy required to sustain ourselves and make a fast buck with more of the English taxpayers money. We might not be running your Country any more ala the last labour government but we do have a plan and you'll be paying us more when we get independence than you ever did subsdidising the welfare scroungers up here (though you do have your own fair share of those too). Cheers suckers
Scotland is a socialist country land we have more in common with Scandanavians than England which is turning more into a 52nd state of America each year!
i cant wait for the referendum. i will be voting yes. I have also managed to persuade most of the EU students to register to vote in scotland and vote yes too. <ST>
