If you had the power to ensure Saints did go up this year, which other 2 teams would you pick to join us. Reading - they deserve it? Pompey - Keep rivalry going in the premier league? Brighton - They have such a likeable manager? Leicester - they are a big club? Whatever the reason, you may have a soft spot for the club, You like the supporters, you like to see the manager/players do well...you like the away trip. be interesting to see if many choose west ham.
Leeds - Just to see Ken Bates have a coronary when the PL money triggers huge payments to creditors in their CVA Reading - I like McDermott
Umm good question for me i think it would have to be Coventry and Pompey that way we would only need to find one more team to finish above to ensure premiership survival. which would mean we could concentrate on winning the FA and Carling cup knowing our premiership survival was all but guarenteed.
I'd say Reading (local/they deserve it/Boyf's a fan) and boro (fan at work) On the same thought, who would you relegate from the Prem?? I'd say Man Yoo, for obvious reasons, and Arsenal (I also follow Spurs). I'd probably add Chelsea to that too.
I wrote this before I remembered that we will be challenging for CL places not flirting with relegation
In all seriousness, yesterday was the first time when I'd really started thinking about who I'd like to see in the play-offs - and ultimately hopefully win them. If we get automatic promotion, and it's still a big if, we could good with a 'weak' side or two coming up with us. Like it or not, aim number one next season should we go up will be surivial - and what better why to increase our chances of doing that than having 'weak' sides in the PL. Personally, without major investment on the pitch, I think Boro, Brighton and Hull would all plummet straight back down. But I could see Cardiff or Blackpool putting up a good fight, and Birmingham and West Ham are both big enough to be able to attract enough quality. Likewise Leeds. And then there's Leicester, and once again would have cash to burn - not that that has helped QPR so far though (nor indeed Leicester themselves!). So seeing Hull beat Cardiff last night was a good result in my book.
Reading because I like to see the South represented better, although that logic does not seem to work further east along the coast. Not bothered about the third one, but if I had all that power I would be watching the game from the best sears in the house. I would also walk to the match from my floating Gin Palace moored at Ocean Village, where you may join me after the match. Please wear appropriate footwear.
Leeds and Brighton Leeds because some of my friends are fans, and it would be good playing them again next season. Brighton; because I hate them. I'd like Southampton's doing the double over Poyet to be a factor in their consequential relegation.
Whoever comes second behind us and whoever wins the play-off final. Boring I know, but I really don't mind who else comes up with us, as long as we do go up.
Southampton, West Ham and Leeds Because i'm an old schooler and in my time all three are Premiership clubs
Apart from Saints of course, I'd pick Reading for automatic promotion. For play-offs, either Cardiff (after several near misses) or a team from Yorkshire - England's biggest county and no Premiership team whilst the Red County has 7!!
yep, reading for me. i think they were unlucky in last years playoff final, have shown character in coming back again, majority of their fans don't moan & certainly MacDermott doesn't. they're south as well & as my other wish is that pfc go down, then it'll be nice to have a local game. i think it would be great to have cardiff, westhoof, birmingham & leeds all battling in the playoffs !! tasty yes, very tasty. all believing they deserve without even thinking they've got to earn it !! ha ha ................. oh, yes & to join us & reading out of those 4 ? birmingham because chris houghton has shown remarkable poise & humility in the last 12 months.
Would like to see Cardiff promoted, them and Swansea have one of the fiercest rivalries going so would be good to reunite them. And it would be one convenient saints match next season for me (better result though next time please!)
