Skysports.com understands West Ham are poised to sign Ricardo Gardner on a free transfer.

West Ham are preparing to mount a challenge for promotion from the Championship and announced earlier on Wednesday that they were set to bring in two 'proven Premier League players' within the next 24 hours.
Methinks that Big Sam has more pull than Sven

Not sure I agree with you there, the players that Big Sam is bringing in are all former players of his at his former clubs (Faye, Nolan, Gardner). It is normal for players to follow the manager who did the best for them in their careers.
It is massively frustrating that we have signed nobody yet but I think we must keep the faith! Sven will know better than anyone what he needs and with his brief for promotion or else, I am sure that the signings will come...

Im not too bothered about them to tell you the truth. Yes Kevin Nolan is very good in this league but i would prefer Andy King as he is younger, cheaper and came through our academy. Ricardo Gardner didnt do alot for Preston and we was linked with Faye but wouldnt never in a million years like to see him and Bamba as the centre halfs. Half the stadium will have a heart attack

Big Sam is clearly going for his former Bolton players as they are cheap and available, and it wouldn't surprise me if he signed some Blackburn players either. Sven's catalogue of links across the world is bigger than the Yellow Pages.

I should add, though, that despite that, the signings Big Sam has made are exactly right for this division and, looking at their potential team next year, they are by far the strongest team and anyone who finishes above them will surely be champions.
