McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton says he is almost ready to present a new agent. The interests of the British driver were represented for years by his father Anthony, but that partnership came to an end early 2010. Hamilton expects to start the new season with new management. The world champion of 2008 told Reuters: "Nothing is signed and final, but I am very hopeful that in the coming weeks I will announce something, especially for the first race in Australia. It is an important decision for you to meet someone to tie for a long period, but I am confident about my plans. Soon I will make anything known. "
Also he needs to make sure he can make money after his F1 career finishes. He needs to concentrate on races whilst others concentrate on making him money.
I think this is maybe what he lacked last year-someone to be constantly on his back to keep pushing and keep his hopes up. Morale can go a long way....
And his new manager is:........ Simon Fuller His Agency also has british sports stars Andy Murray and David Beckham on their books. good luck to this partnership
Yes. - Without a manager, a driver will find it very difficult to maximise his/her potential. This is because the effort involved in negotiation is a long, complicated, ever-evolving process which directly impinges upon a driver's capacity to focus on what should be completely focussed upon: driving!
I'm curious if its only Simon Fuller. I was under the impression that sports stars tend to have a manager who has knowledge of the sport, and then an advertising, marketing, branding manager. Obviously not all have two, but I'd be curious what Simon Fuller knows about F1, apart from making Honda look a little green.
This is an interesting point. I have been involved in the management of drivers and it often involves a cohesive effort. But interestingly, this was not really the case when Lewis Hamilton had his father doing the business!
Christian Horner is ruffling the feathers of Mclaren already speculating Hamilton could leave if this is another bad season for McLaren. "Lewis is a great driver. He is a former world champion, he is one of the best drivers. And he wont be happy if he lost again this year. That does not mean we look at him to sign for Red Bull Racing. We are pleased with our current duo. "
Haha yes, Christian Horner's subtlety is about as honed as a house brick! - Far too obviously designed to create intrigue and get people wondering what his angle on it isââ¬Â¦
