Have to agree with that - provided they're not OTT with the trick or treating (and that the parents make sure they're safe) then it's just another bit of childhood fun. God knows they'll have enough disappointements in the future so hard to begrudge them enjoying life while they can.

Halloween itself has a tradition going back centuries in Europe. However, the trick-or-treat aspect which I suspect Jono is referring to is an abhorrence. You're fully entitled to take any kids knocking on your door and lock them in your BDSM torture dungeon, Jono.

When they're little young uns with cute costumes accompanied by their parents knocking at your door I have a lot of time for it! But when its 12-18 years olds, no parents, when their idea of a costume is a hoodie pulled over their face, with only their eyes visible, whilst holding a big stick???? Just wrong! Its like legalised robbery/blackmail! If I don't give them money I fear for my windows or nearby parked car!

In ma neck of the woods it's always been "up the pub". Probably because of the hill.

You can invite kids into your home and offer them sweeties or money, it's not against the law, as they come to you, no snatching them and bundling into a car boot.
