Well the Gas are half way through our first season back in the league. We didn’t have the best of starts, but we are definitely showing signs that we are getting stronger as the season unfolds. We have had some home game lows which we would prefer to forget, but lets face it and be done with it Chesham, Newport, Accrington, Northampton…… Sod it lets forget about it and look forward!!! The Gas have come from the wrong half of the table to get into the play-off zone, OK there are couple of teams with games in hand, but we are on a roll. We are still nine points adrift of top spot, but there is a lot of football to be played and we can always have positive thoughts. The January fixture list could define our season. It looks tough, but on the other hand we are playing some of the teams that we need to be above at the end of the season, so if we can get through it with good results then our softer end of season fixture list could be advantageous. I would prefer that we do the job ourselves rather than hoping that others will do it for us. Keep up the good work lads!! Lets’s take the next step up the ladder!!
We just need to take 1 game at a time. Like we did last season. Like DC insists that we keep on doing. Januarydoes look tough but knowing DC, he would just look forward as far as the next game so wont fall daunted at whats coming our way. He has the players who give everything they have every single game so has the confidence that we can match any team period. Things dont always work out though where we struggle in the final 3rd in games but we are in the play offs at the moment even with us struggling to score goals. Imagine where we could be if we start regulary taking our chances! DC says play offs minimum is the target. So far so good. Personally I would be delighted with top 10 but where we are now and how we have dominated a lot of games, we really can make the play offs. I believe in DC and the team to do it.
Automatic promotion, possibly, playoffs fairly certain, I think a lot will depend on who he brings in to strengthen the squad and how quickly they settle. Looking at some of the home games we lost Portsmouth and Oxford we deserved something from both games so although we have to play both away they will certainly not be expecting to walk them. In DC and the team I trust and I firmly believe that if we fail to make the playoffs we will have every reason to be disapointed
We usually finish strongly, so enjoy the ride. Tough games at the end of the month though, but a good chance to dent the campaigns of some of our rivals...
