With the new year upon us and just over half way through the season, the tops and bottoms of most divisions are starting to look tight and unpredictable; great for the neutral but nerve-racking for the supporters of those involved.

    Premier League
Bottom: Only 3 points separate the bottom 5.

    Championship:
Top: Four sides vying for the 2 automatic spots are separated by just 2 points. Dip your toe in to the botom half and 13th placed Brighton are only 4 points off the Playoffs.
Bottom: Bristol City may be up to the dizzy heights of 19th but they are only 3 points off the relegation zone.

    League One:
Bottom: Only 3 points separate 18th placed Sc.unthorpe and Rochdale, in 23rd.

    League Two
Bottom: Only 5 points separate the bottom 6, with 2 of those sides destined to lose their League status in May.

    Conference:
Top: A2 horse race for top spot leaves 6 teams, separated by 3 points, fighting for the other 3 play Off spots.
Bottom: Only 3 points come between 18th and 23rd spot.

With Pompey [hopefully] heading in the right direction, we should find ourselves amongst the neutrals looking for some entertainment in the tables over the coming months.

Will you be keeping a sideways glance on any of these battles?

I for one will be keeping an eye on the bottom of League Two, hoping Argyle can get out of the mire.
