"Torres deserved to get sent off because he could have stayed on his feet and he could have been in on goal, and i was a striker and would have stayed on my feet".... Ashleigh Young, anyone? See the luck of the Irish continues in the charmed life of Johnny Evans.... Don't worry, uncle Mike at the Referee's Assosciation is here to look after you and your teammates.
Having not seen it but reading the sky sports reports...he did a Gareth Bale dive to protect himself from injury.
Torres went down cause he'd lost control of the ball, mainly due to the fact that Evans had just tripped him.
Bottom line is it definitely shouldn't have been a red. I think what Le Saux said was right, he took the yellow out and then realised Torres was already booked so had to send him off.
A really, really convincing simulation of being kicked on the shin as he ran past Evans at full speed. So good that he somehow moved his shinpad and sock to try and con the ref that Evans had done it with his boot. Not that Clattenbung would fall for that....
But Ivanovic saw red for clipping a clean-through Young and Torres followed for a second booking - referee Mark Clattenburg deciding he dived unnecessarily over Evans' lunge. That was just my interpretation to be fair. Having just watching it, its a pretty unfair decision especially with studs showing...
Too bloody right it was unfair, it was downright disgraceful. strangely enough yet another in utds favour but hey ho thats another story.
Nah Drogs but to be fair he did the exact same thing a few minutes later. Defender on a yellow and contact was made. Only difference was Valencia hadnt almost taken a Chelsea player out at the end of the first half while Torres had so had a yellow card. Not consistently right, but consistent.
