ireland have beaten england at the cricket world cup. admittedly i like 99% of the irish know **** all about cricket but so what we beat the english at ''their game'' EDIT: 1/100 an english win
I've just been watching it (and simultaneously listening to frantic updates on Cork FM) and Ireland fully deserved their win, unfortunately. Nobody (or next to nobody) in Ireland seemed to care about the game beforehand, as far as I could tell. And now.....well, I can hardly bear it. Brilliant game, though. If it sparks an interest in cricket in Ireland then I'll at least be able to pretend to myself that this is some sort of consolation.
Actually, there is something called “Cork FM” – but it’s only community radio (maybe not even going anymore) and wasn’t the thing I was meaning, anyway. My bad. Forgive my ignorant ways. I should probably have given the full title – Cork 96FM – to avoid any upset. Or maybe it’s better known to locals as simply “96FM”? Hard to care, really, isn’t it? Although, I have to say, I never really imagined it would be an issue that would provoke any form of consternation at all. You live and learn. Take it easy. Kind regards etc (from county Cork)........
no worries psychosomatic i was just curious as to what you were listening too as i dont listen to the radio that often i thought there might have been a new station
Ah the noble sport of cricket. Some bloke throws a ball trying to knock down some pieces of wood stuck in the ground and another bloke uses a bigger bit of wood to stop the ball hitting the smaller wood. ****ing genius. Aparently the Irish team talk was to tell the batsmen to imagine they were kneecapping someone when the ball was heading towards the small pieces of wood.
Now now, we're absolute minnows who have just beat one of the global giants, we're entitled to gloat a bit. No sour grapes
