    Jesus, he doesn't shut up does he? Two days ago he was saying we're close to making a couple of deals and now he's telling us to be patient.

    Bloody pain in the arse, do you reckon he narrates his own life all the time?

    "I'm very close to going for a **** but I may get a drink of water first. I also need to mow the lawn but as we're all aware, these things take time. Now, where did I put todays papers? Can you get me a SundaySport when you go to the shops sweet cheeks? I do like to read papers, they indicate to me where we are at the moment with certain things. It's important not to look into things too much as we all have to keep an open mind. Can you get some milk too love? I reckon it's going to rain, the important thing about rain is you can't take it for granted. That's something I'm working towards blah blah......"

    Ok... so last week he says we are close on a few players.. this week its "we haven&#8217;t done anything yet because no-one&#8217;s done anything yet. But at some point we will."

    also on that shouldn't we move for players before others do?

    Aldrige Prior I completely agree i started a thread saying much the same after he announced we were going to sign the 'mystery' midfielder. Why go through everything like that we can handle not hearing anything rather than rubbish after more rubbish. Again I give Pardew full credit for performance over the second half of a season which couldve gone either way. But he can now just talk about concrete business like a professional outfit would or risk lookjing stupid when little happens.

    We cant actually announce any signings until June anyway to be fair.

    Very true but I much prefer Hughton's old approach of "no news = no talkie".

    Like GBB said he's clearly the puppet.

    you can announce a signing whenevr you like if the deal is complete but they will not arrive till later. He is simply saying one thing then back tracking.

    Come on guys it wasn't that bad. Ok he didn't give us alot of concrete information but he obviously felt the need to say something reassuring to the fans following the news of the breakdown of talks with Barton. He didn't articulate too well but reading between the lines I see some positives to be taken from this;

    - He has said that when we lose players like Carroll or Barton the intention is the try and get better players in as replacements (positive)
    - We are already very active in the market but are being held back from completing any transfers because the selling clubs have not yet worked out their own transfer needs or lined up replacements (again positive, we are a step ahead of some clubs)

    Like he says, it is early days in this window so be patient and be positive.

    He has been saying the same thing every single day for 5 months. Just say when we have done something or say **** all in my opinion.

    That makes no sense at all since that sentence isn't worth saying.

    If the Chronicle keep interviewing then we are going to see quotes, and frankly 'be patient' is something our fans could probably do with hearing. Its not even June yet and some people are already panicking about no new signings...
