I'll admit before he signed for us I wasn't that aware of the player, heard reports he was highly thought of with swansea but didn't think much of it.

However, after seeing him in his short time with us and having a look at his previous record, i think its fair to say we have picked up a cracking a little player that is going to provide us with energy and attacking intent from midfield, plus he seems to be some what of a dead ball specialist.

Also, the fact he showed real ambition by turning down the scourers and moving for footballing reasons is another plus point!

I'll give Levy a pat on the back for arranging this deal early, credit where its due as I'm one of levys biggest critics.

  2. Early days Boss, but I agree - think we may have a 'real player' on our books. Credit to those that made it happen.

I think it's worth putting him in your dream team Dona. However not sure he'll get many assists though as there will be no one to get on the end of them...... :)

  9. Just wait. In another three seasons' time he'll be our next "Modric," demanding a move to a "bigger" club to play CL football.

If he does then that means he will have performed and impressed. I'd much rather he did a Modric than a Bentley <laugh>

Looks a great player already. Seems to work well with Bale which is good to see. I remember when Reading sold to him to Hoffenheim for £6m, at the time I thought Hoffenheim were wasting a hell of a lot money on a Championship player... How I was mistaken.

Think Gylfi will definitely be a success if he builds on his pre-season form. Well done Levy & Co, good bit of business there <ok>

I wonder if he'll make the starting XI?
Could be a very useful contributor, even if he doesn't.
70 minutes of van der Vaart running himself into the ground, only to be replaced by someone else with an excellent eye for goal?
Nightmarish for whoever's given the task of picking him up, especially if he's used sensibly in the cups and rotated in when it's needed.

He looks to have settled in nicely in pre season friendlies, of course time will tell if he can perform for us in the PL.

Pity Levy couldnt arrange us a deal for a top forward early in the window!
