"We didn't lose out because of not wanting to spend the money [on wages]," he added.

"We lost out because the manager wasn't prepared to move on it. There's no doubt there'll be other targets and other people that we need to look to bring in.

"But we won't lose out on wages. If we feel there's a player out there in the market whose value and worth can add value to what we're doing here then we'll do everything we can to bring them in."

Clearly, he thinks that for the money, there are better options out there.

    Seems that way.

  3. Anyone else find it a little weird that he refers to his self in third person but that continues to say we for every other bit?

I have say, every time Rodgers speaks he goes up in my estimation. The man is 100% right on this, most Liverpool fans were not bothered if we signed him or not and Rodgers was most likely thinking the same thing. You dont pay top wages for a mediocre player. Well done Rodgers <applause>

Now watch Sigurdsson rip the league up next season for Spuds and turn out to be a bargain <laugh><yikes>

  5. I think someone on one of the other threads had a point when they suggested Rodgers may have an eye on sparingly using Suso, Sterling and Pacheco in some capacity this season.

I reckon he will swim! Good, clever plaer should fit in with BRs philosophy, and seeing him sat in the front row for Rodgers meeting the team indicates to me that he is keen to suceed this year.

Rodgers seems to want to give everyone a chance so we have (presuming a 4-3-3 system)

Gerrard, Lucas, Spearing, Shelvey, Adam, Henderson, Maxi, Bellamy, Shelvey, Aquilani, Cole, Pacheco, Suarez, Carroll, Sterling, Suso and Downing to fill 6 places. <whistle>

For Sterling, Suso and that lot they have some time.

But ya, pacheco needs to buck up or else he is off and it is not as if he has really shined anywhere else that everyone is jumping for him. Needs to start performing.

Big year for him, Adam, Downing, and even to an extent Carroll ( who has more time but can he fit the system, etc).

Think Pacheco is a gonner, loaned out to be loaned out to a lower club where he failed to make any real impression. May one day be a decent player but I think his chance for being a star has passed.

Sterling and Suso however, Suso will fit with a passing style of play and could flourish under a manager who promotes that style. And Sterling, the guy has got too much potential not be be an important player one day, add to that he's got a ballsy streak that all the best players tend to have. If these two can get a chance over the coming season and go to be brilliant in the future, I dont think we will really care about Gylfi.

    1. rodgers fancies himself a new shankley and i have a quiet smile... he'd damn well better walk the walk with talk like that.

    2. i think given how "good a relationship" he reputedly had with this kid he's trashing him now so it looks to me that he is not happy.

I think a deal was basically in place and then he chose to go and have a chat with Spurs which BR felt was disrespectful so told him he won't be battling for him and that he can go to Spurs.
