Cardiff City and Gabor Gyepes have today mutually agreed to terminate the contract of the Hungarian defender, thereby opening the option to pursue his career elsewhere. The club would like to place on record its appreciation and best wishes to Gabor in the future. The former Wolves defender joined Cardiff City from Northampton Town in August 2008 and made seventy four appearances for the club, scoring five goals in total. http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2595495,00.html Good luck Gabor
Best for all parties. He's now a free agent, and as he became one during the transfer window, he can sign for another club outside a transfer window. He did a job, but isn't going to get near the 1st team with our current options. Good luck to him wherever he goes next.
Disagree totally Taff! Otherwise he would t if mutually terminate his contract...he could of said no and had a wage for doing nothing Cardiff would either keep paying him or they would of had to buy his contract out!! He's done a club a huge favour saving us a fair bit on the wage bill, I wish him all the luck in the future!!! Hopefully this frees up some money for a loan signing or two
Lb87, as I recall he did say something along the lines "play me or I leave" about 12 months ago. How many 1st team games has he had in that period? I believe maybe 2 games. Why hasn't he left before now (6 months left on his contract) in order to get 1st team football? If I recall he also turned down loan moves.
He was in the first team last year as we didn't have Gerrard on loan to hull so we only had Hudson Keinan and Gypese with Darcy as a utility back..and I'm sure Quinn didn't cover that position much...unless we had a major injury crisis at CB It's only this season with Ben Turner and A Gerrard back he's fell well behind in the pecking order...
Taff, If I remember right, I think he said he would not play for DJ, he had a big fall out with him. When Malky came on board he had a chance to impress but failed. I'm sure i read somewhere that he said he hoped to get a new club in the transfer window, it seems that with no takers by yesterday he thought that his chances of getting a new club would improve if he was a free agent as he can now sign outside the window. Good luck to the boy I say.
He dropped down the pecking order last January and his season total for 2010-11 was 18 games in total with only 11 starts. I think that was the root cause of the fall out with DJ. My apologies I have misquoted Gabor, he actually said "If our manager stays it is very likely I will leave” Good luck to him but I think he'll need to look at a mid table league 1 side or lower if he wants 1st team footy.
Good luck to Gabor, will always be a legend for the rugby tackle v. Leicester - taking one for the team. I'm sure he will find a club at the right level for him and could do well in Div. 1/2. I also see that Gavin Rae moved from Dundee to Aberdeen in the window.
That would make sense for the level of football BfB said he needed. Anything other than a Glasgow club in the SPL would be about right in that case.
Gyepes & Matthews were Jones's " Outlet for anger " and never really got a chance . The only thing that I wasn;t fussy on about Jones , it seems if he didn't like right from the get go , you were f#cked for the duration .
