    According to the fail mail!

"Sunderland clinched a year long loan deal for arsenal strikers Nicklas Bendtner as record signing Asamoah Gyan headed to Turkish side Besiktas."

Asamoah Gyan has told skysports.com that he is disturbed by rumours claiming he was looking to leave Sunderland.

Reports emerged on deadline day that Gyan could be on his way out of Wearside, and it was also claimed that he had submitted a transfer request.

Gyan has now vehemently denied asking for a transfer, something which Sunderland also confirmed, and says he is very happy at the Stadium of Light.

"Those rumours have disturbed me to be honest," he told skysports.com.

"I do not want Sunderland fans to think I am not happy in Sunderland. I am happy with Steve Bruce who invested so much money in me and I will need to repay his faith."

Tottenham and French giants Marseille were both linked with Gyan, but he admits it can only be natural to be flattered.

"It is normal to be excited when a club such as Tottenham is interested, however I have a contract somewhere and I intend to honour that."

Why isn't the journalists/editors who put these things to print without a shread of evidence to support it brought to task?

Good that Gyan has come out and said that, shows the press were desperate for a story at our expense. I fully expect Gyan to show us what he can do now.

There has to be some comeback for loose journalism like this.

He should have to explain where the story came from. If he has to say "err... I made it up" He should be sacked.
