It's got to be ****e ES would not allow him to leave for less than what we paid. We got 6m for loaning him so I can't see us selling him for 2.8m.

If we got 7m for him + the 6m Loan at least We got our money back

    £13,000,000 4 year contract = £3,250,000per year.

we had him for 1 year = 9.75
they had him for 1 year = 6.5
    2 years left = 7.5 million

they paid 6 million loan and then 3 million = 9 million = 1.5 million profit for the club.

Fans do not think like that obviously, but accountants do.

I still think its a load of crap, but if it is true, then its not as bad a deal as some are making it out.

Accountants don't think like that - the transfer fee is a sunk cost, as whatever we were going to have to pay him in wages over the next two years, we will (presumably) pay in wages to somebody else. That is, of course, based on the assumption that MoN will use the freed-up wages to pay other players, which you can bet he will.

In terms of capital investment he cost us £13m, and we've got £6m back. You can be pretty sure that we won't have a clause in the contract that they can buy him for £2.8m - Elmo cost only a little less than that! If such a clause was in the loan agreement I'm sure we would have heard about it by now. They'll be paying at least £7m to sign him permanently. Personally I reckon it will be another £9m to £10m.

If he signed a contract with SAFC he is still a Sunderland player, and we need at least the £13 m back. Where is the loyalty these days?, we are just used as a stepping stone club. And how much do his agents get?.

    Stepping Stone for who?

Gyan - goes to a unheard of league with general crowd capc of 1000
Bent - goes to Villa battling relegation

    Hardly stepping stone.....

A **** situation but when he goes for an undisclosed fee I recon it will be about that unless another club comes in willing to match his current wages(which isn't likely). This was always going to happen hence the 6mil loan fee :(

You sometimes have to cut your losses and move on, in reality we will only lose a couple of million<ok>
