The 26-year-old has been a hit at UAE side Al-Ain since his shock loan move to the Gulf in September last year. Al-Ain officials are keen to tying down the Ghana international to a permanent. Last month, the English Premier League side announced that an unnamed Qatari side had made a bid for the former Rennes ace. But reports from Sunderland say manager Martin OâNeil is keen on getting Gyan back at the Stadium of Light to help his new project at the club. âThere have been talks in the past few days with the player (Gyan) who is quite open about returning to the club,â a Sunderland insider told the Sunderland Echo. âOâNeil is leaving his options open at the end of the season and both parties will sit down for further talks in the summer and Gyan is positive about it.â Gyan scored a brace last Friday to become the UAE Etisalat Pro League top scorer with 15 goals.
Personally I woudl rather sell Gyan for another 10million, and get Bendnter on our books. He does a lot more for the team. For me Gyan has a huge ego that would disrupt the team mentality. He would not suit MON way of playing either.
What about Bendtner’s publicly stated opinion of his ability or desire to return to Arsenal. Is that not ego or is it just ambition? I see it as a case of the lesser of two evils so I’d like to see the colour of the Arabs money & Gyans back then a new but committed forward onto our books come August, not a loaner.
What I was trying to say was I would rather have Bendnter over Gyan. I just don't see how Gyan would suit our play. I wouldn't be too bothered if Bendnter didn't come. Yes he has performed well recently, but IMO we can do better.
Fair call. TBH though IF Bendtner was prepared to publically nail himself to our mast BEFORE the season ends then I'd accept him but I still want a proven No 9 signed to feed off the chances the others will create.
Don't know if I've missed something but Bendtner said that he never wants to go back to Arsenal. Best case scenario is we get a good offer for Gyan and MON can look to bring his own player in. Bendtner would be a steal at £4m.

I'd have Bendnter if when he doesn't play well, he at least shows some determination and actually tries. That's my main gripe with him and for now I'd say no to him. He needs to keep playing as he is and then I'd definitely have him
If its Martin O'Neill's wish to bring Gyan back to Sunderland and Gyan has the desire to return to Sunderland then Gyan ought to come back and play for Sunderland. Lets face it, Gyan was playing under the guidance of Steve Bruce the last time he represented Sunderland therefore it's no wonder he was more than happy to leave on loan. If Gyan is now feeling inspired to work with Martin O'Neill then he ought to be welcomed back with open arms, as an inspired Gyan alongside Bendtner or another top striker will provide enough quality to reach Europe.
Gyan is worth £13m minimum to us, we are in no hurry to sell. Yes we got £6m for the season, but that was the value of his loss to us ... until MON arrived, and more if we had gone down. I have said before we really don't know the circumstances of his move, but if MON feels he can contribute to next season's challenge and no-one comes in for him at the right price ...... and of course he wants to play, play him. Bendtner, Gyan, Campbell, Sessegnon would be an outstanding foursome when all fit and firing on all cylinders. no reason why 3 of them couldn't play in a 433 formation. MON will sort it
I think one of the reasons that Bendtner hasn't publically shown that he would like to say at Sunderland, is that the fans have not taken him to their hearts...His inconsistant performances, along wing his disproportionate ego, have made him an easy target to be the 'compulsary' scapegoat-mongers.
I think Bendy has gradually been improving and put some bloody good performances in recently. This could be down to putting himself in the shop window or is he starting to feel settled up here and partnerships on the field are beginning to work. Aside from the top 4 or Europe we are a bloody good team to be with especially whilst MON is here. He could do a lot worse. Needs to drop his alleged wages mind.
