Not saying we should go for him, he wouldn't be my first choice keeper to go for although after hearing the three keepers we are looking at, De Vries, Harper and Kirkland, I would say he would be better then the last two. Is he allowed to play after this season thought I heard his work permit ran out but according to sky sports he is looking to stay at Villa. at the moment he is first choice due to shay givens injury. so he is the no.2 to given as things stand. but at the end of the season Guzan has to leave the country as his work permit ends. Guzan will fail the criteria needed to get another one. His one slight chance maybe of getting a new one and thats only slight is to play many games for villa this season but thats unlikely once Given is fit again. so guzan now appears to be another ship that has now sailed for hull city. all roads lead to Dorus De Vries (on loan) for me if we need another GK.
Based on the comments in that article, it doesn't look like Guzan has any concerns about being forced to leave the country. I'd really like to see us sign De Vries, but it seems highly unlikely, not unless Wolves are planning on signing a new keeper, he's their current No.2.
its already been well documented that Guzan wont get a new work permit issued as things stand. but thats upto him and his agent to sort out. as for De Vries ? maybe Mad Mick would be open to getting him out on loan after there FA Cup game as on current form he aint gonna replace Hennessey in there goal.
He's there No.2 keeper, he's on the bench for every game, they're not going to loan him out without another keeper to replace him.
I was going to say thought they had a good third keeper but just checked and it's Carl Ikeme seen as they can't see them replacing him and sending him here unless he tried forcing a move through to play more first team football
Mannone for me even after hearing about his antics playing for the Arse the other night in the CL. Harper not for me - bit like Basso - tad too old - didn't think much of him either when he played in the televised game for Brighton the other month.
yes he is But how do you know what they are going to do De Vries ? thats why january is gonna be interesting. nobody knows for sure what gonna happen. another GK to consider is Jake Butland of Birmingham City who has just finished a loan spell @ Cheltenham. England youth international. Maybe NB can ask Bo Myhill about him especially if Basso and Oxley show no sings of being fit anytime soon.
I saw on SSN a couple of days ago that Villa were in the process of offering him a new contract. Therefore I highly doubt he's going to be made to leave.
