Bristol City could be set for Leeds United type transfer with forward By Sport Witness - 17th January 2018 SHARE According to claim in the Swedish media, Plymouth are showing an interest in Bristol City forward Gustav Engvall. The Swede spent last season on loan with Djurgårdens, after failing to hold a place down in Lee Johnston’s Bristol City starting eleven. Fotbol Direkt have today reported Plymouth are monitoring the situation with Engvall, and could move in on the young forward. It’s been revealed talks have yet to commence between Plymouth and Bristol City, but the Pilgrims see the player as an option. The Swedish football outlet believe the transfer would be similar to Marcus Antonsson’s move from Leeds United to Blackburn Rovers last summer. Antonsson dropped down a league after failing to make an impact in his debut season with Leeds United, and Fotbol Direkt think Engvall moving to Division One side Plymouth could beneficial, as it has for his compatriot. Since Antonsson left Leeds United for Blackburn Rovers the 26 year old has managed to kickstart his career, scoring seven goals this season, and it’s hoped Engvall could do likewise if he joined Plymouth. It’s a nice idea, but just because it’s worked out for Antonsson, it doesn’t mean other players will have the same fate. http://sportwitness.co.uk/bristol-city-set-leeds-united-type-transfer-forward/
Just links, media reports and rumours. And Plymouth have been linked with a move for City striker Gustav Engvall, writes Sports Witness and Swedish site Fotboll Direkt.
Would be a good move for all concerned. Get him used to playing football in England. He is still only 21
Plymouth had Garita and for some time he was a bit of a "hero" after his injury was not used as much.... Gustav does his stuff for djurgardens ... and 2 full caps
From what I’ve read (so don’t quote me on this) is Plymouth will be having him on loan once we’ve sorted on who we are waiting for.
We don't mind being your training club and bringing on your prospects. It worked quite well with Reid and Garita as well as Bryan. We could do with a half decent striker who didn't cost us an arm and a leg. Been mutually beneficial before so no need to think it wouldn't again.
He was a star at the beginning but it has to be said the second stint wasn't quite so successful. I think that is right regarding gap between the divisions. We came up from 2 last season and most of us were thinking the gap between one and two wasn't all that. Bit of a culture shock to find there was a gap and a few of our "stars" had lost a bit of twinkle on the promotion. It took one or two others a bit of time to adjust as well. Hence why we were rock bottom at the beginning. There is definately a gap between all of the divisions .
One you did lend us is Zak Vyner who played for us today. Difficult baptism seeing we were playing the league leaders Wigan. Considering he was thrown into the team at short notice I think he did very well for his Argyle debut. He looks very composed on the ball and his passing was simple but effective. Didn't do much wrong for a 20 year old even if he was a bit unfortunate to help a ball on with his head into our net. Was going in anyway and he almost got it over the bar. Most people sat around me seemed to like him and I do think he has a future in the game. All we need now is a Forward or if you have a midfield general going spare. or both................anyway, boy dun good as they say.
