Is Gus making best use of the squad, he rarely makes any change to our pattern of play making it easy for opponents to set out their game plan, should he learn from Pards up the road, who is not afraid to change things around even during a game.
Be careful what you wish for. Pardew has a habit of leaving our best players on the bench, we then proceed to play **** for the first half, then he brings our good players on and it makes a difference. Hardly genius management yet he gets all kind of praise for it.
if you are referring to last night then I think he went for damage limitation tbh, maybe not the right thing to do but 3 games in 8 days is silly when you put a daft friendly against the sweaty socks into the mix, the festive period is manic as it is without that waste of a week. our squad is threadbare, i honestly think he is doing his best, January probably cant come quick enough for him
Still puzzling over the selection Coates to have a run out against a top team, assuming also that Buckley's selection was to cope with Zabaleta againt Revierra. In the end we were undone by a good footballing team with help from us with wayward passing at times. Maybe he set the team up not to lose like last Saturday but it is the players who have to micro-manage the game as it unfolds and we just did not have the quality out there.
Coates had to play v City as he can't play Saturday and Wes obviously wasn't considered able to play all 3. If we end up with only one point from the 3 it's not a disaster. We went all out to get something from Chelsea and have a feeling we'll put up a good fight on Saturday. Don't think we were that bad last night, more the opposition just too clinical.
Always thought your username was something to do with Poyet but it always confused me. Wor lass has just started me off watching breaking bad a few weeks ago and I feel enlightened.
When Breaking Bad started on TV over here I wrote it off as just another druggie v druggie street war etc shoot em up Yank thing. After so many great reviews got the whole series out on DVD from local library and was hooked from disc 1, wife and I ended up watching the whole series over one weekend. Totally compulsive watching.
I'm now going to avoid this thread in case there are spoilers. I started watching it las wekk so am only 3 episodes in. Loving it so far!
Haha cheers Bri - I've had to remove and BLOCK people on Facebook who threatened to spoil it for me! I've loved the first three - trying to work out which one of Walt & Jesse is my favourite character so far!
I like Walt, Saul, Mike and Hank. Jesse grinds on me to be honest. There's a spin off coming next year too.
TO be honest the first season/season and a half I found tedious but I pushed through with the promise from mates that it gets awesome. Glad I did because since the introduction of Gus Fring it's got a completely different dynamic, I'm hooked now. Took me some getting into but I'm hooked now, it's one of those series where every episode that ends I just want to start the next one to see what happens. I could never have coped watching this series when it first came out and having to wait a week See I hate Walt, I think the show tries to drum up sympathy for him but to me he's a total dick. He and his wife are made for each other, both knobs. I like Jesse. Saul is my favourite character on the show, but I doubt the spin off will be up to much tbh.
Pardew who has never over turned a half time deficit. All he does is pick starting 11 and hope for the best.
I have only watched a few of their games on sky and heard match reports etc but he does seem to think well on his feet making alterations to his formations during a game often at half time or early in the second half and often to good effect. Gus on the other hand tends to wait and wait before making any substitutions unless they are forced on him, and are nearly always like for like. Two very different tactical styles makes an interesting side show.
Walt is horrible but admirable too. Jesse is a great character but Hank is the best. I think the very first episode had me hooked. Strong all the way through though.
