I thought we were two shy at the end of the window. Over the coming two windows I now think we're going to need at least six plus. Two new centre backs on permanents, a new full back, two dependent on Jones' injuries, a new creative centre mid and probably a couple of strikers capable of playing in the premier league as we currently seem to have none. We need to get the quality in required so we don't have to reimagine our team every ****ing summer.
We are definitely a couple of players short, but I would rather wait and get the right players rather than jump in and buy for buying sake..
I agree, but I get Gus frustration, he knew where we were short and passed the information across, it wasn't rectified. The Borini chase was embarrassing, an endless chase to overpay for an average footballer who we needed far less than a good quality CB. We ****ed up, but we'll be alright.
We could have got Dawson (cb) and Diame (cm) Martin Kelly (rb) for the price we paid for Rodwell. Diame for 3m is the signing of the season so far and you have to take your hat off to Bruce.
Must admit I couldnt understand why we werent in for Kelly, was basically a freebie for how much Palace paid, especially with his versatility Diame I've seen at Wigan and West Ham, has a good few games then gets greedy and thinks he is better than he is Dawson we have been linked with for a few years, was one I never understood why we didnt have any concrete interest January shall be interesting
Dawson would be an improvement but although the other 2 are decent players, I don't feel they'd have benefitted us. We need CB's with pace and composure an attacking midfielder with guile and a striker. Plus a RB not made out of splintered glass that's been heated and dropped down a lift shaft.
Again I think its a case of lack of knowledge of the market and poor scouting. Theres good deals to be had but we seem to miss out. Hulls business was tremendous
Personally think they bought too many midfielders Must admit though in terms of Hernandez/Ramirez/Dawson I am a tad jealous
They did really well, but bar Abel Hernandez they didn't sign anyone we'd really need. Not saying they didn't sign well, they just had a different set of objectives. Gaston & Ben Arfa are terrific players mind. Dawson is just a slightly younger JOS, a solid experienced CB with poor pace and distribution. We should have went for Kaboul, Caulker or Lescott.
See this I don't get - we don;t know if we could have got them. We were heavily linked with Dawson and he didn;t come here. We don't know whether he talked to us - or even whether he'd have been interested if we had approached him. Kelly, IMO, is average. Diame - as mentioned - is a good p;layer for a little while then fades into oblivion (so far). If Bruce can keep him firing then he's an amazing signing for Hull
Ben Arfa > Buckley Gaston > Alvarez Diame > Gomez On top of that they got Hernandez Dawson Snodgrass. Imo they blew us out of the water
Hull Southampton and Leicester all did better than us with regard to player recruitment If you make a bad buy then you are stuck with it for the duration of the contract. This seems to happen to us a lot IMO
I'd like some LB cover too. Daft to think PVA can sprint all season long without picking up an injury.
I think it harsh to say there was a better alternative to Alvarez, he hasn't had his chance yet. Not fussed about Diame either, few good games and everybody thinks he's a class act. It's bollocks, was very inconsistent at West ham. You don't see Hull fans ****ing off Huddlestone anymore now he's reverted to why Spurs let him go. It's very easy to say we should have signed this and that off a good start to the season, but it's an incredibly naive way to think imo.
Aye. I've heard we are looking at Albertazzi, he's at Milan on a buy back was at Verona last season looked half decent. Reckon he's available around a million.
