I always thought that we should have appointed Poyet as manager when Gary Mac was was sacked (although Bates would never have allowed it). Heâs exactly the type of manager we could do with to take forward the long-term development of the club. Iâve nothing against Warnock but heâs a stop-gap option at the end of his career, when what we really need is someone who will still be with us in 5 years time. Poyet is doing brilliantly at Brighton and he did well for us as Wiseâs assistant (in fact he was the brains behind the operation). If Brighton donât go up this season (and they probably wonât) then Iâd love our new owners to offer him teh top job at Elland Road.
I would certainly want him considered for the job after Colin leaves. He's also said himself that he'd love the job.
Hmmm. 5 years? I don't think so. He's already had his chance with us & displayed his type of loyalty. Can't see it happening. If Chelsea or Spurs offered him the tea lady job, he'd be off like a shot. Again. Apart from the loyalty issue, he would certainly be a contender.
Right manager wrong time. I think Gus has done really well and the players seemed to react well to him when he was playing Wises right hand man. He then went to spurs but really showed what he could do in the driving seat at Brighton. I dont think Gus could do so well without putting his stamp on things so he would be the wrong appointment under Bates as he wouldnt be backed. I think he has a bright future, but i also think Grayson will do well so what the hell do I know compared to a football visionary like Ken Bates. Good luck Gus, even though your an ex chelsea bastard and Snodin almost knocked you for six for being a whinging arrogant prick ( i spoke to Glen about this personally and he wasn’t impressed with the lad at all) aren’t all passionate managers like that when things aren’t going there way? Yes I would have him back, if/when the time is right. Same could be said about Grayson but right now the right man is Warnock. It has to be. Who else could make the team he built function? Not saying another gaffer couldnt have assembled a better squad but I am saying we must play to our strengths and get behind him. Poyet does come under some criticism as well. Often plays players out of position and even took a gamble on loaning Paynter, but that kind of things takes bollocks and is applauded when it works as a touch of genius, but you get it wrong a few times and fans are calling for your head. Its a fickle position to be in. PS good luck Gus, but not at our expense.
Yes. I have wanted Poyet for years now. I do think he would be capable of taking us forward and warnock is incapable of managing in the prem anyway
