The advantages are obvious; He is without a club He already lives fairly local to the training ground He knows the club as his son plays for us His sides play good football He has a decent track record at this level The disadvantages; After yesterday, I can't think of any.
Won't happen unless the owners suddenly produce a huge wad of cash, the way Richard Murray did after he appointed Dowie.
He left Brighton because he thought their owner wasn't investing enough money....... what would he think of ours
Poyet may be a better manager than Powell but we couldn't afford him and he wouldn't want to come without a big budget. Just another of VaV's embittered fantasies.
Sacking the manager doesn't always work results wise.... we have Pardew and Les Reed and Dowie in one season, then 2 years later had Parkey (i liked him though, honest bloke and did stop the rot). And then when Powell first came it didn't exactly go brilliantly from 3rd to 13th (granted next season was cracking). Sacking the manager not always the way.
Agree 100% Ted...!! A new manager would want to bring in his own players and due to the transfer window being shut and the fact we are brasic, he wouldn't be able to do that. So, what's the bloody point. If come January things are as bad I'll be the first to call for Powell's head. But imo now is not the time to panic.
Although not as tragic as our performance on Saturday . As a masochist for all things Charlton, I forced myself to watch the whole game again on Sky to cheer up. It was that, or a Leonard Cohen CD. Particular highlights were in the second half, when Joe Piggot ran with the ball, and then passed it into touch. And Simon Church going through, and then back passing it to their keeper I also enjoyed Rhys Wiggins attempt at a cross, which nearly decapitated some poor bugger in the East Stand.
