well, gurrieri has not been offered a contract despite shining in every friendly he played in. I personally only saw him against QPR, but thought he was bright had good movement/pace and wanted the ball constantly. From what i heard he had the best feedback in the majority of the pre-seasons too. a mistake perhaps?

Have to agree I thought he was one we would go for. My description was he reminded me a bit of Noone when he first arrived. Plenty of promise but knocked off the ball a little too easily at times. Was as you say looking for the ball and not scared to try to go past people. But, we don't know how much he was asking for do we and price is everything for us this season. At least we have Gibson.

Think it may well be down to money all feedback I had was positive, I had him in my starting line up for Saturday. Easier guessing the lottery than Argyle´s starting 11 for a game 4 days away!!!

Gibson a plus but do we really need anymore defenders? Still too light out wide and upfront at the moment.
What are we up to now in the squad 16?

Think we might be going 1-6-3-1 on Saturday better get Cole a deckchair <laugh>

GreenArmy..........I Know that living local can mean that you pick up info on local news etc...........but where have you picked up the news about Andres Gurrieri not being offered a contract.

The last info I can find on Gurrieri says.........that he has agreed personal terms, Ridsdale says that there is one item to sought out with his agent and former club in Uruguay regarding "training compensation" being owed to anyone.

Has that revealed a problem to costly for Argyle to continue signing him ? ( as at 7am on the 3rd)

NEWSNOW just announced that Gurrieri is going........very disappointing to hear that.

The lack of funds does cause a lot of problems.

    Yet another Striker snubs us:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14362605.stm

Seriously why do so many strikers turn down guaranteed first team football? It can not just be the money or location...I'll be looking to see which League 2 club Feeney ends up joining at the start of the season, money on Southend.

He was just a paler version of Fallon........so long since he scored,...........he would have to be introduced to the goalposts and the gap between them.

Oh dear......he will be signing after all.........not a good move..........goals win matches and he hasn't been scoring them regularly for years.

Where did you hear that Plymborn?

Kandol looks interesting though. A relative of Bolasie? Should be welcomed if he signs.

As to Gurrieri - wasn't Mendes also apparently let go but yet appeared as a sub in the Saltash match?

Can't find anything relating to Gurreiri on News now or anywhere else. The BBC thing on Feeney is inaccurate - now there's a surprise - he wants to come but Oldham want to move him permanently, not just on loan. IF Gurrieri has moved on it will be because of the money. By all accounts Peter Reid was keen to sign him and it appears he can play in more than position. We will need a bit of creativity as well as new strikers.

That's a shame, Greenarmy. Still, I trust Peter Reid to know what he wants and to get the balance of the squad right. All our problems stem from not having a functional team - too many mediocre 'utility' players after Holloway's departure. It now remains to be seen if the new crop of youngsters will gel. It would be nice to see a winning team at Home Park again - it's been a while!

It maybe that Reid is aware that we only have space in the current squad for 2 more players (Feeney and Kandol look like they may be joining) as only 20 allowed in admin. So he may be waiting until we get out of admin when he can sign more players.

Thought we where at 17 now but losing track to be honest. If we only have 2 spots left then Hobo has it spot on must be 2 more upfront, back and midfield is pretty well covered in terms of numbers at least.

That's possible, hobo. I thought some of our youngsters didn't count towards the twenty squad members?
