I know a few of you play... @NSIS @The Ginger Lothario @Hoddle Is A God What's your favourite piece to play and any YouTube tutorials that are the closest to what you can do Any others on here play? This guy is pretty good i'm not a fan of the capo, so would not follow this particular example; I think this is a better version; and of course the original;
. The solo from that is quite challenging. It’s also one of the greatest guitar solos ever, imo. Also, the solo from this is also pretty amazing. I’ve incorporated a fair bit of it into the version I play when we do this song.
Yes, in one way. He uses extra notes in some of the solo instead of bending the strings to get the same note, but with a different effect. String bending is a complex art. Too little or too much bend and you’ve landed on the wrong note. Clapton is a master of it.
That must be difficult to do. Without a tutor you will get into bad habits, this might explain why Ginge said you was playing out of key one time. Not trying to wind you up by the way. I'm not suggesting people can't self teach but you will need an experienced musician or guitarist somewhere along the line to guide/coach you, did you have someone?
What, in the name of Satan's cock, would that uber bell end Skiddy know about playing electric guitar? He'd **** up playing the triangle.
Yet Satans cock could hear the majority of your YouTube offerings begin out of tune and are sung by a demented spastic on methadone
I've no idea HiaG. Anyway, back to my question, what materials, or help did you get from experienced musicians in your self teaching? I tend to find youtube a bit of a minefield for beginners, everyone will show you different ways and versions of whatever you are doing, not suggesting those versions are wrong, they will be styled to audience they are teaching. You just need to find the tutorials that are closest to your style and generally stick with them, otherwise you will just confuse yourself. For example I showed you in the OP two completely different methods of learning Hotel California. The second vid is not how the original was played but would be my preferred style without the capo. Another example i could show you a nice easy main riff to money for nothing and playing it at the first and third fret Bb5 C5, i doubt you will find a video out there showing you that - key of Bb/Gm. Again it's about how accurate you want to be to the original. I'm happy to learn from you and others mate, if I can get you and Ginge to stop arguing for 5 minutes
I it takes balls to get up and play in public so I have to thank Les's partner for borrowing them to him. I've always said that but Les doesn't take critisism well as it appears to dent his fragile ego. I don't play much these days but always can hear if a tune is in the wrong key. Mainly play harmonica these days due to arthritis and other injuries as it is far more manageable.
