Any players out there that don't have the advantage of playing in a band or with other musicians. Mashing away without accompanyment can be a bit sould destroying. There's a site by the (obvious) name of guitarbackingtracks.com that has loads of tracks in mp3 format that you can play through amps from phone, player, tablet or PC. Can't vouch for them all but there is some decent stuff on there and some that have drums base rythm and backing vocals.

I found this the other week - it's basically the karaoke-versions tracks as direct downloads - only issue I have is that I might want to make changes to what they've got and you have to pay for them in that case but otherwise it's a canny site!

This is the stuff I do.

I make my own backing and use it to play at gigs ( although I'm getting on a bit ((a lot))) and will just be making my music at home.

Have a listen, everything you hear is done by me.

One of the best teachers I could find was Graham Wood who teaches music, keyboards and guitar. Nice bloke but he charges the going rate (not sure what that is now) but he does it the correct way, teaching key structures, scales and modes rther than showing you how to play a set number of songs, although you do learn these as you go along.. I didn't start till I was almost 60 so left it a bit late.... lol. I can ask if he's still giving lessons if you like, he's based in Shields

A good start would be to buy the book 'Play in Day' by Bert Weedon, a great booking for learning chords. some of the best players and Bands learnt by that book, all us Merseybeat Bands, Beatles included learnt to play with that book, good luck with your Guitar playing.
