Pay 5 million for him ... that`s what Man City are asking apparently.

According to the daily ****** ..

MANCHESTER City have slapped a staggering £5million January price tag on John Guidetti.

And Celtic could now face a major pre-contract battle in their bid to land their Swedish striker on a permanent basis.
Parkhead chiefs have secured Guidetti, left, on a season-long loan but his sparkling early form has led manager Ronny Deila to state he’d love to tie down the hitman on a long-term deal as soon as possible.
The 22-year-old’s contract at Man City expires at the end of this season but any hopes of a cut-price fee look to have been dashed by the cash demands from the English champions.
And now, with any club free to speak to Guidetti from January 1, Celtic could face strong competition from other suitors also keen to land the talented attacker for free next summer.

Can't we just offer him a pre-contract deal and get him for **** all in the summer. Offer him some of that £5m?

Risky in that someone else could offer more, but we could have a word now and get the contract ready for 1st january

We`ve struggled long and hard to find a decent striker, with lots of money wasted along the way. If he still looks the real deal after a couple of european games I d say it was time we spent some money on a relative certainty compared to the continual one or two milion punts that have spectacularly backfired in recent seasons. It might actually save us money.

He is a talented lad, but it is a lot of money for someone who has 6 months left on their contract and has an unfortunate injury history. I just don't see the point in spending it, when we have I'm to the summer anyway and could get him for free.

Although it may pay to keep Man City sweet if we can get a couple of players like guiddeti and Denyer each season

Lawwell won't part with 50p for a guys he might get on a pre-contract. He's been decent but hardly a sensation.

£5m sounds about right and in the current market it would be a snip.

    Get him signed Celtic.
