It will be a full house. ST's count towards the total figure even if people don't show up. Of course, if there are 20,000 empty seats the club would look stupid saying the attendance is 52,000

    40,000 at most
I think the numbers who will boycott it are being underestimated

A Sunderland fan to another Sunderland fan at work:

"Newcastle fans, you have to give it up to them, are some of the best in the world. Not many other fan bases would take that much crap, for so little return, and still have such high attendances."

The boycott won't have much of an impact at all, I expect around 44,000, which might be typical of a game at the end of the season, where the team is playing ****, there is nowt to play for, and the opposition are of no consequence to us.

This won't be the boycott, I promise you that, but that doesn't mean there will not be one. There will come a point where even the most reluctant fans feel it's passed a certain impasse. What I would say, is that waiting a year or two down the line til everybody is fed up enough to decide for themselves they aren't enjoying going to games, and we'll not be in the position we are in now. To me, this should be the put up or shut up moment. This shouldn't rumble on forever, and if something isn't organised for a game of little consequence, then put it to bed and have done. Those not happy paying money to watch a **** team, with no fight, investment, quality or depth, watch at home and save yourself money, those content getting pissed and having a seat in the ground for the ****test show on earth, go and at least sing a song or two, because the atmosphere inside is ****ing atrocious, and has been for too long. Sing you useless ****ing mutes!!!!!!!

Around 44,500 or so. Boycott will impact around 5% of the total attendance, negligible really. Not enough to make a difference, the press will try and find pockets of empty seats but ultimately the fat man's still rolling around in £500m pure profit from his businesses.

I've gone 30,000-35,000 on the basis that there has been so much talk about it and no one is expecting a thrilling game of creative football, well definitely not from our side. I for one hope they are successful in their attempts, I hope the atmosphere is subdued and I am putting Harry Kane as my captain on my dream team this week!

If we get, say 40,000 I think it could form something of a catalyst as some folk will instinctively follow a trend out of habit.
I can see the group organising another boycott in the next couple of games and things may snowball from there as more people rally behind the organisers.
The one thing that has hampered protests before and made our fan base look daft has been the fact that a lot of different groups did separate things and it was all a bit disjointed (think the coffin caper). This is the first time in a long while where I've seen ALL fanzines, most key opinion leaders, and key social media 'superfans' rally behind the one cause.

I actually think the levels of support for this have been underestimated. I can see another boycott before the end of the season. Possibly the last home game of the season. If that were to happen, I can see a crowd of sub 25,000.

Has Nev set up a weekly guess the crowd game?

40,361 ..is my guess, whats first prize again?

Would like to think the crowd will be sub 40k.. and some momentum builds due to it.. It is the perfect time to express the discontent at how this club is being driven into the ground and destroyed piece by piece.. Very little to play for (beyond..survival), ****e footie on display/ a threadbare squad of want-aways (sensibly really) and incompetents/ a coaching staff/organisation from the early medieval period.

7 games to protest in ...before the inevitable scraps are thrown our way in the summer and the heart takes over from the head ..the fat controller will be back like the crazy ex G/BF..just one more chance..I will be good this time etc etc

Edit: Haven't seen these posted..but there is also (minor) rumblings in some of the national press..well being a pinko commie..the guardian, that has been sorely missing in the last years..Coverage giving a fair assessment of our situation ..for a change (its a good article and the word 'deluded' isn't used)

David Conn wrote a fantastic book called 'The Beautiful Game?' Explores how money has ruined the game.

    Cheers ...and ordered.

Seem like one of the few journo's that .. actually cares, and isn't fooled by the 'EPL BEST league' in the world propaganda rammed down our throats every 5 minutes, till we choke.

(saw a couple other of his books too...Richer than God: Man City and The Football business (sound similar to your recommendation..will give the beautiful game a shot first)

The football business is another good read. I love the Beautiful game. Explores Dave Richards, Geoffrey Richmond and the mob that nearly ruined York City. Conn is really scathing of Dave Richards. Won't give too much away though.

Not quite true windy - at our place the turnstiles count everyone through so an ACTUAL amount of people attending a game is shown not a "Total if all the Season Card holders turned up" - Arsenal have a different stance on this and state 60000 for every game due to the number of season card holders - My friend went to the emirates with his work recently and he said there were loads of empty seats even though the scoreboard flashed up full stadium. Not sure what Newcastle's policy is

I think it varies from club to club. For us, I think we may have the same policy as Arsenal. There have been some games this season where there have been empty seats but the club announce close to a full house.
