Bannaghtyn Following on from Wiz's successful and popular - Guess the Score and Gate, I'd like to run a similar competition this season open to Bristol City and Bristol Rovers posters plus any other individual who cares to enter. the rules are similar to wiz's format and the format I used for the Euro 2012 matches. ***1 point for guessing the result - eg Bristol City win / Nottm Forest win / draw. ***5 points for guessing the exact score eg 2-1 ,3-3, 0-1 for guessing the gate-home matches only. ***5 points for closest, 4 points for 2nd closest, 3 points for 3rd closest, 2 points for 4th closest and 1 point for 5th closest. ***10 extra points to everyone who predicts within 50 of the total attendance. All predictions and edits must be in prior to kick-off. I'll add a guess the scorer at the end of August, when our squad is fully known. I'd also like to add to embrace in true Olympic spirit both Bristol football clubs- a Bristol City and Bristol Rovers guess the score and gate- if no objections at the end of the month. First two matches.... Tuesday August 14th- Bristol City v Gillingham FLCup Home / Guess the Gate / score after 120 mins if extra time is needed. it would be good if for a change we managed to get a win in the league cup-somehow we never seem motivated against lower league opposition. it would also be nice on a personal note because my great uncle, Alan Hardacre, secretary of the Footbal League, was the instigator of the first ever League Cup in 1962. Saturday August 18th- Nottingham Forest v Bristol City Bristol City achieved their first ever win at Forest for 50 years in April. A result which tilted the pendulum of safety in our favour. Can we repeat it against a side with big aspirations, but like ourselves very much in transition. Good luck Lhiats

Cheers wiz, hope you have had a great summer so far-at least you had a week of hot weather, on this rain-soaked isle we managed 1 day- certainly wasn't alleviated by Mark Cavendish failure to get a medal- would have been the first gold medal for a Manxman in the Olympic games since 1912- pinning our hopes on Peter Kennaugh now in the GB cycling pursuit on Friday. Is the format OK- and have you any suggestions how I can fine-tune it. The Guess the score / guess the gate was your conception. Edit......Hi manx, the way you did the euro's was brilliant, you carry on mate it's all yours and I'm in it to win it......wiz..

Bristol City 3-0 Gillingham (10,056) Nottingham Forest 2-2 Bristol City Have a feeling we will mirror our start from a couple of seasons ago when we went to Preston on the opening day and got a credible 2-2 draw.
Bristol City 3-1 Gillingham. 7201 attendance (just to piss Shiny off being 1 closer than him and ain't we only opening a couple of stands? ) Florist 0-2 City
City 2 - Gillingham 0 ATT: 5296 City 1 - Forest 1, cagey first game of the season, confident for the draw based on last season win up there...........
